Phalad Waterfall
Phalad Waterfall sits within the Mueang Kanchanaburi district and offers a quiet, off-the-beaten-path alternative to the region's more heavily visited attractions. The surrounding forest setting feels genuinely remote, reached via a longer drive from town followed by a short walk into the trees. For travellers willing to make the effort, the reward is a peaceful natural environment with very few other visitors and a strong sense of being deep in the Thai countryside. The site is largely undeveloped, which is both its appeal and its limitation. Facilities are minimal — bathrooms exist but have been reported as no longer functional — and the access path requires a moderate walk over uneven, potentially wet terrain. Visitors should come prepared to hike and get their feet wet, particularly during the rainy season when a short creek crossing may be necessary. The waterfall itself feeds natural pools and offers good opportunities for photography and quiet exploration. Good to know: Water flow is highly seasonal. Visitors arriving in the dry season, particularly between December and March, may find little to no water flowing. The rainy season and its immediate aftermath (roughly May to November) offer the most rewarding experience. Solid footwear with good grip is strongly recommended, and the walk should not be attempted alone given the isolated surroundings. There are no posted opening hours or an active website, so checking local conditions before making the trip is advisable. This site suits travellers who prioritise solitude and raw nature over polished facilities.

Visitor Reviews
Absolutely stunning place. You have to hike to get yo the waterfall and prepare yo get your feet wet (a short portion you'll have to walk in the creek of it's the rain season) but it's absolutely worth it. Magic vibes 🪄
*Rainy season recommended* Alright, so if you want to just get outside and see some nature, this is the place! If you want to see an actual waterfall.... You might want to wait for the rainy season. There is pretty much a trickle during the drier season. Nice enough, though :)
Pretty waterfall. Really have the feeling I'm deep in nature because it's a quite long drive, but not a too long walk into the forest. It's clean and almost no people, seemed to be abandoned the time I was there. But still worth walking in and enjoying the nature!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
