Suan Pa Doi Chang
Suan Pa Doi Chang serves as both a forest park and a starting point for exploring the highland landscapes around Doi Chang in Chiang Rai. The area is particularly noted for its connection to coffee production, drawing visitors who want to learn about the cultivation and processing of coffee grown in the surrounding hills. The park sits within a mountainous setting, with villages and restaurants dotting the route further up the mountain, making it as much a scenic drive as a destination in itself. Visitors can expect a mix of natural scenery and cultural interest. A popular activity is cycling or driving up toward Khun Korn Waterfall, located approximately 11 kilometres from the entrance along a gentle uphill climb. The area also draws crowds during the summer months and around Songkran, when shallow waterways become a relaxed spot to sit and cool off. During peak periods, particularly Songkran, the area can get noticeably busy. Good to know: the entrance area functions primarily as a parking point, but visitors are encouraged to drive further up the mountain rather than stopping here. There are no published opening hours available, so it is worth checking locally before visiting. Given the highland elevation, temperatures can be cooler than in the lowlands, and a light layer is recommended, especially in the early morning or evening.

Visitor Reviews
Parking lot for entrance into the beautiful national park. Amazing place to learn about coffee production. Having said that, no need to actually park here, just drive your car further up the mountain - lots of villages and coffee production to explore. Best in the non smoky season (and when it’s not raining). 4WD or SUV recommended.
nice good
It's a popular spot for tourists and vendors during the summer and until Songkran. It gets very crowded during Songkran. It's a great place to sit, relax, and enjoy a beer in the shallow water. Just be careful of insects!
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
