Huai Mak Liam Hot Spring
Huai Mak Liam Hot Spring is a naturally occurring geothermal site situated within a national park in the Doi Hang area of Mueang Chiang Rai District. The spring draws visitors with its bubbling pools set amid shaded trees beside a river, offering a peaceful glimpse into one of northern Thailand's quieter natural attractions. Entry is free and open to the public, making it an accessible stop for travellers exploring the Chiang Rai region. The atmosphere here is calm and unhurried, with the surrounding greenery lending the site a genuinely tranquil quality. The spring water is notably very hot, which means direct soaking is not possible at the main pool. Visitors can, however, sit alongside the bubbling water, take in the scenery, and enjoy the natural setting. Facilities are minimal, though development of a dedicated hot spring soaking pool has been underway, which may enhance the experience in time. This site is best suited to travellers who appreciate natural landscapes and don't mind a low-key, undeveloped environment. Those who have visited more developed hot spring facilities elsewhere may find the experience modest by comparison, but for first-time hot spring visitors or anyone seeking a quiet retreat away from the tourist trail, it offers genuine charm. There are no published opening hours available, so it is worth checking locally before making a special trip.

Visitor Reviews
You cannot dip directly into this hotspring because the water is too hot, but it still deserve a 5-star to me. the bubbling pool is located inside the national park, and is open to the public free of charge. Because the water is too hot, it must be mostly a quite place where you can sit around the pool and enjoy the natural environment.
Stunning! We went there today and they are making the new hot water spring pool. Will come here when they open.
Love it 😍 it’s a miracle

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
