Mok Fa Waterfall
Tucked into the forested hills of Mae Taeng District, roughly an hour north of Chiang Mai, Mok Fa Waterfall is a nature preserve and scenic spot offering a cool, peaceful retreat into northern Thailand's jungle landscape. The centrepiece is a twin waterfall cascading into a small natural pool — photogenic and refreshing, set against dense green vegetation. Beyond the falls, the site also includes a nature trail and cave, giving visitors more to explore than the waterfall alone. The experience is accessible rather than demanding. A short walk of around five to ten minutes from the parking area along a gently undulating sandy path leads to the falls, suitable for most fitness levels. The pool at the base is shallow but popular for paddling and photography, and the surrounding jungle keeps temperatures noticeably cooler than the city. Good to know: the site is open daily from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with an entrance fee applicable — recent visitors report approximately 100–220 baht depending on group size and parking arrangements. Facilities include parking and a small picnic area. Paths near the water can be slippery, so footwear with solid grip is strongly advised, and swimwear is worth packing. Water flow is most impressive during and shortly after the rainy season, roughly June through October. As the location is somewhat remote with no website for advance planning, private transport or a scooter is the practical way to get there.

Visitor Reviews
Mok Fa Waterfall is stunning and definitely worth a visit. The water is incredibly refreshing - perfect for a quick dip! It’s an easy and scenic 10-minute walk from the parking area to the falls. The facilities are well-maintained with clean toilets right at the entrance. A very nice and convenient stop on the way.
Absolutely beautiful waterfall tucked into lush jungle—cool, refreshing, and wildly photogenic. The walk in is easy, the vibes are peaceful. And then there’s the sign: “Beware of Slippery.” Not a suggestion. Not a vibe. A legally and spiritually accurate warning. The rocks are slick, gravity is undefeated, and confidence will be tested.. You’ll be fine—just heed the sign. Five stars. Stunning. Slippery. Kinda. Consider yourself warned.
Late January 2026 Near roadside tourist attraction access with a short and easy treck to the waterfall area. A small facility along with opposite picnic and parking space area for visitors. Generally has a constant stream of visitors. The waterfall itself falls within a not so deep pool that is easily accessible however always care to mind the slippery terrain.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
