Doi Saket Hot Spring
Tucked away in the forested countryside of Doi Saket district, this natural hot spring offers a low-key, affordable alternative to the more polished wellness resorts found elsewhere in Chiang Mai. The site has an agreeably rustic character — well-kept but unpretentious — and draws visitors looking for genuine relaxation rather than a resort experience. Geothermal waters emerge in a quiet rural setting, making it a genuinely calming place to spend a few hours away from the city. Entry to the grounds is free, with private soaking cubicles available for around 100 THB per person — a modest outlay for a personal soak in warm mineral water. On-site, visitors will find a small community market with food stalls, local crafts, and the novelty of eggs boiled in the hot spring water. A café and coffee shop are also nearby. A massage service operates on-site, though experiences with it have been mixed, so managing expectations there is worthwhile. The overall atmosphere is calm and quiet, and the site is accessible enough that some visitors cycle out from central Chiang Mai. Good to know: Opening hours are not widely published, so it is advisable to check with local accommodation before making the trip. The site is most easily reached by private transport, motorbike, or bicycle, as public transport options are limited. Bring a swimsuit, towel, and flip-flops for the baths. Visiting during the cooler months of November through February makes the most of the thermal contrast and keeps the surrounding walk comfortable.

Visitor Reviews
It's a pretty secluded and interesting spot. It's not new and you can tell it's aged, but still it's not expensive and worth a visit and a dip in one of the VIP private baths. It's only 100 THB/person (max 2 persons), so give it a try if you're in the are, as it's not worth driving there specifically to dip in the hot spring water. Still, highly recommended once you are there.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
