Silom Thai Cooking School
Set in Bangkok's Bang Rak district just off Silom Road, this cooking school offers structured, hands-on classes where participants learn to prepare classic Thai dishes from scratch under the guidance of experienced instructors. Morning sessions begin with a guided tour of a local Thai market, where students select fresh ingredients and get an introduction to the herbs, spices, and produce that form the backbone of Thai cuisine. The school's intimate format means instruction is attentive and personable, with teachers consistently praised by visitors for being warm, patient, and engaging throughout the experience. Classes take place in a clean, air-conditioned indoor kitchen, and the curriculum covers traditional Thai recipes with enough depth that participants can confidently recreate dishes at home. Each student receives a recipe book at the end of class, making it a practical souvenir as much as a memento. The combination of market visit, cooking instruction, and cultural context gives the experience a coherence that sets it apart from more superficial tourist activities in the city. Good to know: Morning classes, which include the market tour component, tend to offer a richer overall experience and are worth prioritising when booking. Classes fill quickly during peak travel periods, so advance booking is strongly recommended to secure a preferred date. The school's location near the Silom area makes it straightforward to combine with other nearby attractions or a meal in the neighbourhood.

Visitor Reviews
Silom Thai Cooking School delivered one of the most unique and rewarding experiences of my entire Thailand trip. The morning session was brilliantly structured, it started with a market tour where our gracious instructor showed us exactly what to look for when selecting quality ingredients. Then, we returned to the cozy cooking room filled with wonderful aromas and prepared a full five-course meal from scratch. We made Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai, Som Tam, the curry paste, Green Curry with Chicken, and finished with the absolute highlight; Mango Sticky Rice. Our host kept the energy vibrant and engaging throughout, making it feel less like a class and more like cooking with a knowledgeable friend. I left with both newfound cooking skills and a beautiful recipe book as a keepsake. This is an authentic, immersive window into Thai culinary culture and explains why Thai cuisine is world-renowned. If you’re visiting Thailand, skip the standard tourist activities and book this instead.
We had the best time on the class today! Everything was taken perfect care of 🥹 from the entrance and market trip (morning classes) to the recipe book they give you afterwords so you don’t forget everything you learned! This is honestly so thoughtful and nice! They explain everything - how to choose your ingredients, how to prep and cook them and even how long you can store it! While being very informative, it’s also extremely fun cause the teachers literally joke better than some stand up comedians. Huge shoutout to Mee and please someone give her a raise or a bonus, she is awesome! Highly reccomend and would tell all my friends to visit you guys! All the best wishes and hope your business is always successful!
It was one of the most beautiful experiences in Thailand. We truly enjoyed the class and felt a deeper connection to Thai culture and Thai cuisine. We became familiar with the dishes and are now able to order them confidently from restaurant menus. We loved it so much, and the best part was that we prepared four wonderful dishes and enjoyed eating what we cooked with our own hands. Thank you so much. I definitely recommend that everyone visiting Bangkok takes part in this lovely experience. All the love to the wonderful people behind this project 🤍
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
