Princess Mother Memorial Park
Tucked into a quiet residential pocket of the Khlong San district, this memorial park pays tribute to the Princess Mother — one of Thailand's most revered royal figures — through beautifully landscaped gardens, educational displays, and a calm atmosphere that feels worlds apart from central Bangkok. Rare trees and plants are labelled throughout the grounds, and small sculptures and historical exhibits offer insight into the Princess Mother's life and royal duties, making it as informative as it is peaceful. Visitors can expect an uncrowded, unhurried experience. Reviews consistently describe stumbling upon the park as a genuine discovery — birdsong, clean pathways, and only a handful of other visitors at any given time. There are free, clean toilet facilities on site, and the park lends itself well to leisurely walks, quiet reflection, and photography. It sits within easy reach of the Chao Phraya riverfront, making it a natural addition to any exploration of this less-touristed neighbourhood. Some visitors reach it on foot via the Chao Phraya Sky Park from Chinatown, which adds a scenic approach to the visit. Good to know: Entry is free and the park is well-maintained. Morning visits are recommended for cooler temperatures and the best chance of hearing the park's birdlife. Comfortable walking shoes are advised, and bringing water is a sensible precaution. Combining this stop with nearby riverside landmarks makes for a rewarding half-day itinerary in one of Bangkok's quieter corners.

Visitor Reviews
A Quiet Tribute to a Remarkable Woman We found the Princess Mother Memorial Park completely by accident – and what a serene discovery it was. Tucked away from Bangkok’s hustle and bustle, this peaceful and lovingly kept garden feels like a sanctuary. The entire space is dedicated to Somdet Phra Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother of King Rama IX, known for her modesty, deep compassion, and tireless social work, especially for Thailand’s rural and mountain communities. The small museum and traditional-style buildings give quiet insight into her life and values. Everything about the park seems to reflect her gentle character: unpretentious, nurturing, and full of grace. Entrance is free, and there were barely any other visitors when we went – a true hidden gem. It felt like walking through someone’s story, carefully preserved and shared with deep respect. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a meaningful, peaceful stop during your stay in Bangkok.

Took a steady walk from Chinatown across Chao Phraya Sky Park and through a local neighborhood to find this lovely park. No fee to stroll through well landscaped gardens, a small oasis and very peaceful. There is a small charity shop, restrooms, and a museum commemorating the Princess Mother. Lots of places to sit, relax in the shade.
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
