King Rama VI Monument
Standing at the entrance to Lumphini Park along Thanon Rama IV, this bronze monument honours King Rama VI, one of Thailand's most significant monarchs of the modern era. The statue is a focal point for Thai locals paying their respects and for visitors with an interest in Thai royal history and culture. The surrounding area offers strong transport links, nearby dining, and the green expanse of Lumphini Park itself, making it a natural addition to any itinerary already centred on this part of Bangkok. The atmosphere is generally calm and respectful, typical of royal monuments across Thailand. Visitors can expect open public space around the statue with seating nearby, and the site is straightforward to reach on foot directly from Silom Station (MRT Blue Line, Exit 1). Tuk-tuks and taxis are also readily available in the vicinity. That said, visitor reviews suggest this is a worthwhile stop if already in the area rather than a destination worth a dedicated journey. Good to know: The monument appears to be accessible during daylight hours with no entry fee indicated. As with all royal sites in Thailand, respectful behaviour and modest dress are expected. Be aware that the area can undergo periodic maintenance or construction works that may restrict access temporarily. Early morning visits pair well with a walk through adjacent Lumphini Park, when both the crowds and the heat are at their most manageable.

Visitor Reviews
Great statue of King Rama VI standing in front of Lumphini Park and nearby Si Lom intersections. You can find this monument right after you exit Si Lom (B26) station : MRT blue line at the exit 1 right at the entrance of Lumphini Park gate This monument shows the significance of King Rama VI as the one who gave the land to open Lumphini Park as the first park in Thailand, which still opens and is maintained to this day as one of the important park in modern Thai history.
As far as bronze monuments go, it's top notch. If you're in the park already, go see it. Don't go out of your way to see it though
A bit crowded during cruise departures. Anyhow well organized and the queue/ boarding goes smoothly
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
