Chao Phraya Tourist Boat – Hop On Hop Off Bangkok
Operating daily from Sathorn Pier (Central Pier), the Chao Phraya Tourist Boat offers an affordable and practical way to explore Bangkok's most iconic riverside destinations. The hop-on hop-off format allows visitors to move between landmarks at their own pace, making it a flexible alternative to taxis or tuk-tuks for covering the river corridor. Stops include access to some of Bangkok's most recognised cultural and historical sites, all reachable without the hassle of road traffic. Visitors can expect friendly and helpful staff, well-maintained boats, and a pace that balances efficiency with the opportunity to take in the riverfront scenery. The service has proven particularly well-suited for families, including those travelling with young children or strollers, thanks to its ease of boarding and accessible format. The boats run frequently enough to keep waiting times manageable throughout the day. The service operates every day of the week from 08:30 to 19:00, making it straightforward to plan around other activities. Those intending to cover multiple stops in a single day will find an all-day ticket represents solid value. Arriving at Sathorn Pier early in the morning helps avoid crowds, particularly on weekends. Checking the official website at chaophrayatouristboat.com ahead of the visit is recommended for current ticket prices, route maps, and pier stop details.

Visitor Reviews
Really good service, the staff are friendly and helpful, the boats are fast enough that you arrive at your pier in good time, but slow enough that you can really take in the sites. The main sites you can see while on the boats are; The Grand Palace and Wat Arun. The fare is 40 Baht for a single ticket and 150 baht for an all day ticket. If you have the all day ticket you can hop in and hop off the boats all day. Overall a good
Very cheap and effective way to move around thourgh all day with kids. We have seen a lot of important spots and with a baby in stroller it was very easy. Staff was helpful and very respectful.
Great value for your money! We enjoyed hopping on and off in Bangkok a great deal!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
