Chao Phraya Tourist Boat Head Office บริษัท เจ้าพระยาทัวร์ริสท์โบ๊ท จำกัด

3.8(58 reviews)

The Chao Phraya Tourist Boat service offers a hop-on, hop-off river experience along one of Bangkok's most iconic waterways, connecting key landmarks and piers across the city. Operating from a head office located on the third floor of Tha Maharaj Shopping Mall, the service runs double-deck boats that give passengers views of riverside temples, historic buildings, and the broader cityscape from the water. It is one of the more accessible ways to move between major attractions such as Wat Arun and Sathorn without relying on road traffic. Visitors can expect air-conditioned seating on some vessels, with open upper decks available for those who prefer unobstructed views. The boats generally run from around 9:00am to 7:00pm. The experience varies depending on the time of day — earlier departures tend to be quieter and more comfortable, while boats after 6:00pm can become significantly crowded, particularly on popular routes between major piers. Those planning to visit should note that service quality and crowd levels have drawn mixed feedback from travellers. Arriving earlier in the day is advisable for a more relaxed journey, and passengers should be prepared for a busier, more utilitarian experience during peak evening hours. The Tha Maharaj pier area itself offers pleasant riverside scenery and makes for an agreeable starting point before boarding.

Visitor Reviews

I had so much fun with this hop on, hop off experience. The boats were comfortable, efficient, and ran on time. The bus operates from about 9:00am till 7:00pm. There was air conditioning on some boats, and the flaps rolled up on other boats. Either way, I felt comfortable. For less than $5, I had an all day. They provide a hop guide. This guide has information on all the stops. Nothing was far away. For example, the guide shows information on a temple, then how to get there. Such as, walk straight for 350 meters, and it will be on your right. But along the way, are museums, galleries, shops, parks, and etc. I visited all but one stop, because there was so much to explore.

Love the double deck. Not a lot of tourists during the pandemic. It's empty on the upper deck. Maybe it's too hot that day. Anyway, there're only a few people on the boat. Enjoy my time a lot. Only 30 Baht for a one way ride from Sathorn pier to That Phra-a-thit pier.

Well is a nice pier. You can see photogrammable objects around the pier such as bicycles stacked on the wall, flower beds, etc. A good place to relax and enjoy the scenery..

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
