Layana Resort and Spa
Set on one of Ko Lanta's finest beaches in the Sala Dan area of Krabi, this boutique resort and spa combines thoughtfully designed accommodation with a full-service wellness offering. Its deliberately small scale — accommodating around 100 guests supported by a correspondingly high number of staff — results in a level of attentiveness that distinguishes it from larger properties. Ocean villas come with private jacuzzis, direct beach access, and dedicated chaise lounges positioned between the sea and the resort's two pools. The atmosphere is calm and refined throughout, with interiors that guests consistently describe as tastefully decorated and well maintained. The on-site spa caters to those planning a longer wellness-focused stay, while beachfront dining and easy water access round out the experience. The overall balance of considered design, attentive service, and a tranquil setting makes it particularly well suited to couples and travellers prioritising rest over activity. Good to know: Ko Lanta's dry season runs from November to April, offering the most reliable conditions for beach and outdoor enjoyment. This period coincides with peak demand at the resort, so booking accommodation and spa appointments well in advance is strongly advisable. The Sala Dan location keeps the resort within reasonable reach of the island's other attractions without placing guests in the middle of busier tourist areas.

Visitor Reviews
Not sure where to start. We had the most amazing four days at Layana and we wish we could have stayed longer. We had a very warm welcome when we arrived and the staff had gone to a lot of trouble to prepare our room with an anniversary message and decorated bed followed by a complimentary bottle of bubbly. This is a truly beautifully serene place with wonderfully kept grounds and rooms to match. The staff are genuinely friendly and can't do enough for you. The staff at the pool made sure we were never without cold drinking water and would bring food and drinks if requested. The restaurant served delicious food and although more expensive than other places you might eat in Thailand we thought it was worth every penny. Thank you for making our Anniversary trip one to remember.
I had the pleasure of staying at "Layana Resort & Spa", and it was truly a dream experience. This hotel is absolutely wonderful, with impeccable service from start to finish. The staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to fulfill every wish with a genuine smile. They make you feel special and cared for at every moment. The rooms are simply breathtaking, spacious, elegant, and beautifully designed, offering comfort and tranquility. The beach is stunning, with soft sand and crystal-clear water, perfect for relaxing and enjoying paradise. The Thai cuisine served at the resort is excellent, authentic, flavorful, and prepared to perfection. Every meal was a delight. It was a dream vacation that I truly hope to repeat someday!
It's not obvious from the descriptions that this is a small, intimate resort. I would guess they have at most 100 guests, yet they have probably 40 staff. That makes for an incredibly high level of personal attention. If you are looking for beach bars and night life, this is not it. If you're looking to get away from the madness of the world while still surrounded by luxury, this is the place. In Hawaii equivalency, this is Kawaii, not Waikiki. Also, in general, I hate "organized fun" because it's too cheesy. Yet every event they organized was low key, classy and in good taste. It goes without saying that the food was great, the grounds immaculate and the surroundings pristine.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
