Royal Beach Boutique Resort
Tucked into the quieter southern stretch of Koh Samui's Lamai coastline, this boutique resort offers direct access to a private beach alongside a pool area that guests consistently describe as calm and uncrowded, even at full capacity. The intimate scale of the property sets it apart from larger resort developments, with personalised service that frequently draws praise from visitors. Families and couples alike find the atmosphere well-suited to a relaxed stay, and the eastward-facing beach position means sunrise views can be enjoyed directly from the shore. Rooms are described as clean and comfortable, and the on-site restaurant serves guests in a welcoming setting, though some visitors have noted that food quality has room for improvement. The resort sits a short distance from Lamai's main strip, which keeps the immediate surroundings peaceful while still allowing easy access to local restaurants, markets, and cultural sites when guests choose to venture out. Good to know: Koh Samui's Gulf Coast, where Lamai is situated, experiences its wetter season between October and December, so visiting between January and August generally offers more settled conditions. Lamai runs on a quieter rhythm than the busier northern beaches around Chaweng, making this resort a practical choice for travellers prioritising rest over nightlife. As a boutique property, availability can be limited during peak school holiday periods, so booking ahead is advisable. Light, breathable clothing is suitable year-round given the tropical climate, and reef-safe sunscreen is recommended for beach use.

Visitor Reviews
Perfect chill and clean place to stay. Very kind and helpful staff. Nice pool, and beautiful beach that belong to the resort. Always seems quiet, even if fully booked resort. Perfect for families and couples that want a bit more calm stay than in the more crowded city areas. It's about 10-20 mins of taxi to everything you need (bars, restaurants, markets etc).
Great of you wish a relaxing and on budget resort. Staff was more than 5 stars, incredible service. Sunrise can be seen from the beach. Pool area is usually pretty quiet and one can make the most of it since it’s a boutique resort with not a lot of guests. Bathrooms could use a little modernist touch up, but other than that, it was a perfect stay ☺️.
We were extremely happy with our family stay. We had a small problem with our room and the staff/ management did an EXCELLENT job in resolving it. All of the restaurant team are very welcoming too
Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
