Star Hill River Khwae Resort
Nestled along the banks of the River Kwae in Sai Yok district, this riverfront resort offers a distinctive stay in one of Kanchanaburi's most scenic stretches of river. The property sits across a hillside setting, with accommodation options including raft house rooms that float directly on the water — a genuinely immersive experience for those wanting to feel close to the river. Buggy transfers are available to help guests navigate the steep terrain between the entrance and various parts of the resort. Visitors can expect stunning views of the river and surrounding hills, particularly from the uphill rooms and villas. The resort offers rafting, water sports, and an outdoor pool, making it a practical base for active travellers exploring the Kanchanaburi region. Staff are consistently praised for being friendly and helpful. The raft rooms deliver a memorable, if basic, experience — no refrigerator, limited storage space, and modest furnishings — so travellers seeking comfort over novelty may prefer the hillside rooms, which reviewers note offer particularly impressive views. Those booking raft house rooms should pack light, as space is limited for large luggage. The resort is well-suited to visitors combining a riverside retreat with broader Kanchanaburi sightseeing, including the nearby historical sites and national parks. Checking the resort website directly for current room conditions and availability is recommended before booking.

Visitor Reviews
one of the best place to stay if you're looking for a room worth more than the value, amazing service and definitely the best locations. it's best to stay up hill since the view is so amazing. cheers to all the staffs who helped accommodating us during out stay.
Stayed at Star Hill River Khwae Resort's raft house and had a great time. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and they even had a buggy to carry our luggage. Nice touch!
A typical river house resort nesting along the river kwai. From the main entrance, its a steep slope to any part of the resort. Buggy is avaliable readily to assist and at most times, a buggy will standby at the carpark. Massive parking lot with EV chargers too. Stayed in a the normal raft room with a splendid view of the river and a hammock to soak into the atmosphere! Room is basic in design but provides the necessity. It comes with a queen and single. There are some downsides to it though its negliable in a small sense. 1. Soundproofing is bad, u can hear people walking past ur room due to the creaking wooden planks, both infront and main door. 2. As my room faces the pontoon where people board for a river swim upstream, at certain times, 50+ people will walk literally outside the room and its a warzone. The resort also houses a small pool and restaurants plus a couple of view spots. Restaurant serves a few dishes, depending on season. Buffet at 300 baht per pax is avaliable if the crowd is there. Dishes were nothing of outstanding but it gets the job done well and within affordable pricing. There are 2 ways to proceed to the resort. Facing the main gate, by turning right, you can exit the resort on small cemented road while the left will allow you to experience 4km of easy offroad/gravel trails to the road exit. As an adv rider, i always take the trail road. Fun! Offroad level 3/10. A good value resort! Highly recommended! Near sai yok noi waterfall.

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
