Prikthai Best Thai Local Food
Tucked along Chaisongkhram Road in the heart of Pai, this local restaurant draws both residents and travellers with its commitment to authentic Thai cooking prepared in full view of the dining room. The open kitchen setup is a deliberate choice, giving guests a clear line of sight to the cooking process and reinforcing the restaurant's evident focus on cleanliness and food hygiene — something several visitors have specifically noted as a standout quality for a local eatery of this type. The menu leans into classic Thai flavours, with dishes built around carefully balanced ingredients and seasoning. Papaya salad and pork dishes feature among the options, and the cooking style reflects a chef with a clear personal approach to each plate. Prices are reported to be reasonable, and the presence of a regular local crowd is a reliable indicator of consistent, everyday quality. Service is generally described as kind and friendly, though as with many small local spots, communication around specific dietary requests may occasionally require patience. Prikthai is open seven days a week from 10:00 to 21:00, making it a practical choice for both lunch and dinner. Given the small, locally run nature of the restaurant, arriving during off-peak hours — outside the midday and early evening rushes — may result in a more attentive experience. There is no website listed, so walk-ins appear to be the standard approach.

Visitor Reviews
Amazing place … The chef cooks middle in the restaurant where the customers could see how clean it is . The food tastes good ever and the hygiene is also outstanding. Forks and cups are clean and I guess they use good oil to cook Pad thai, Fried rice with basil pork were super tasty and other various Fries with beer were also good We will visit again while we are here. We were satisfied with not only foods but also reasonable price, well manner staff.
Good prices and tasty food! Many locals come here to eat. The place is very clean for a local food spot. You can take your cutleries and empty plates (in case you’re sharing your dishes) after ordering. Water from their water dispenser is for free.
Authentic Thai Food, which is prepared with love! Fresh and very tasty! The Service is kind and friendly! We definitely will come back! Thanks!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
