Friend's Table (reservations required)
Tucked down a private drive amid trees on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, Friend's Table offers a fine dining experience centred around a multi-course tasting menu that draws on diverse flavours and culinary influences. The secluded setting creates an atmosphere that feels removed from the city, and the journey from the entrance alone sets the tone for the meal ahead. Diners can expect thoughtful, course-by-course service with the chef personally explaining each dish. Standout ingredients have included aged meat and river prawns, with the kitchen's attention to texture and flavour combinations drawing consistent praise. Live music has been noted as part of the experience on some evenings, adding another layer to what is already an immersive dinner. Good to know: Reservations are required and can be made through the restaurant's Instagram account, @friendstable.cnx. Friend's Table opens for dinner only, from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Tuesday through Sunday, and does not accept walk-ins. Given the intimate format, tables are likely limited, so booking well ahead is advisable, particularly for weekends or if visiting during Chiang Mai's high season between November and February.

Visitor Reviews
From the moment you turn down the private drive and enter the woods, the experience at Friends Table feels magical. What follows is an incredible journey of flavors and textures, paired with a live kitchen environment that’s both intimate and captivating. The service is impeccable—warm, attentive, and perfectly paced—and every course delivers bold, thoughtful flavors with stunning presentation. You can feel the care and creativity in each dish. If you’re into tasting menus and want to experience one of the very best culinary experiences in Chiang Mai, this is an absolute must. Would 100% recommend.
We had a good time dining at Friend's Table, running by Chef Nick on the day. The foods was well prepared and served in order with little wait time after one another. Foods were refreshing, delicious, and using high quality ingredients. Every dish had a story and its inspiration was told to us by the waiter or chef. I personally enjoy the appetizers more than the main course or maybe got quite full 😊. What had surprised and impressed me most was the "Somtam with Salt Egg", so creative and yum!
Exceptional experience. The food was phenomenal, with a great selection of different flavours and influences within each dish. All was delicious, but the River Prawn really stood out to me. The service was great and to see such talented chefs close-up in action was a treat. Could not recommend more! (Pre-booking a taxi to and from the venue via a ride hailing app is advisable)

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
