Speakerbox Livehouse
Speakerbox Livehouse has earned its place as a genuine fixture in Bangkok's independent music scene, drawing a loyal crowd of locals and visitors alike with its commitment to authentic, DIY music culture. The venue recently relocated and renovated, bringing fresh energy while maintaining the grassroots identity that has kept it relevant across the years. Inside, guests will find two distinct spaces: a lounge bar area ideal for pre-show drinks and conversation, and a main performance room equipped with a high-quality sound system, a large LED screen for visuals, and dynamic stage lighting. The programming spans a genuinely wide range of genres, from indie pop and hip hop to reggae, experimental, and underground electronic acts, making it a reliable destination regardless of musical taste. The atmosphere is inclusive and unpretentious, and the staff are consistently noted for being friendly and accommodating. For practical planning, it is worth checking the venue's social media channels in advance, as event schedules and ticketing details are typically posted there rather than through a dedicated website. The Soi Sukhumvit 55 location is well-served by the BTS Skytrain at Thong Lo station, making it straightforward to reach from most parts of central Bangkok. Arriving before doors open is advisable for popular shows, as the space can fill quickly and seating is not guaranteed.

Visitor Reviews
Like all great venues before them, With its longevity, consistency and authentic diy music culture, Speaker box remind predominant in the local music scene. The venue recently renovated and moved to a bigger space with bar area and clean toilet, walking distance from the OG spot. The live room capacity is about 200 - 250 max. Decent size for an intimate live music experience. Do check out their calendar before hand as they only have bands for event nights only. On the other hand, the bar area is always open most nights. Drinks start at around 100+ baht. If you’re looking for a music venue in Bangkok, this is definitely one of the place worth checking out.
Staff are really friendly and helpful and the livehouse has many cool music events going on of all different genres, from underground alt genres and experimental to reggae, hip hop, indie pop and everything in between - all on what might be the best sound system for a livehouse in bkk. If you're not in the mood for music you can just hang out in bar and outdoor smoking areas without paying the livehouse fee which is a lovely touch and much improved from previous location. Affordable drinks compared to the rest of thong lo too. I reccomend checking the page regularly to see if there's any events you might be into.
Great space for indie and underground bands, as well as electronic and DJ acts. It features a top-notch sound system, massive LED screen for visuals, and dynamic lighting. There are two rooms: a lounge with a pool table, and a livehouse-style main room, both equipped with bars.
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
