Saturday Night Market
Running exclusively on Saturday evenings from 3pm to 10pm, this large street market is one of Chiang Rai's most popular weekly gatherings, drawing locals and travellers alike to browse an extensive stretch of vendors that, according to visitors, runs longer than you can see from end to end. The street is closed to traffic, creating a relaxed pedestrian environment with a genuine community atmosphere. Shoppers will find a broad mix of thrifted clothing, souvenir items, handicrafts, and textiles alongside a dense concentration of food stalls serving affordable regional and local specialties. Live music and traditional dancing add to the atmosphere, making it as much a cultural experience as a shopping trip. While the market leans more eclectic than artisan-focused, the sheer scale and variety make it easy to spend several hours wandering. Good to know: The food court area can become heavily crowded, so arriving earlier in the evening — around 3pm to 5pm — is a practical way to browse stalls and find seating before peak hours. The market is easily reachable by bicycle from central Chiang Rai. Cash is essential, as the vast majority of vendors do not accept card payments, and comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended given the considerable distance the market covers.

Visitor Reviews
Mind blowing!! Been to Canada/Vietnam/Korea/Japan/Singapore/Bangkok night markets, but Saturday Night Market in Chiang Rai is incredible. We biked 5 min from our homestay and parked one the road (unlocked). The local was super friendly (they dont speak English well but went above to help you). Plenty of food vendors and local goods. We actually just walked half of the market cuz it is way too big lol. Bought some food and Thai dessert and they were delicious.
Definitely worth a visit. This is one of the biggest markets in Chiang Rai. The food and booths offer a variety of options. The street is blocked off for about a block and a half and all the vendors set up on it. Very lively and so much fun.
Amazing market. You should definitely go if you are in Chiang Rai on a Saturday. There are stalls longer than you can see. You can walk up and down the stalls for many hours. And there are many unique stores both with food and things

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
