Mountain Float
Nestled in the Mae Taeng District north of Chiang Mai, Mountain Float is a floating resort offering a tranquil retreat from the city with breathtaking mountain scenery, comfortable bungalows, and a range of water-based activities. Despite being listed under Markets and Shopping, visitor experiences consistently describe a resort stay rather than a market outing, with families and couples drawn here for its riverside setting and relaxed atmosphere. Guests can expect clean, cozy rooms and bungalows suited to families, with facilities including water bikes, a pool table, and direct water access for swimming and play. The on-site food and drinks receive consistent praise, with cocktails averaging around 150 THB. Staff are frequently highlighted for their warmth and attentiveness, contributing to the overall sense of calm that sets this property apart from busier Chiang Mai attractions. Good to know: Opening hours and room rates are not prominently listed online, so prospective visitors should check the official website at mountainfloatchiangmai.com or contact the property directly before making the trip. The location in Mae Taeng means a dedicated journey from central Chiang Mai is required, making this a better fit for those planning at least an overnight stay rather than a quick day trip.

Visitor Reviews
“If you have a week in Chiang Mai—this is where you should escape to.” Spending time at Mountain Float gave me a different kind of peace—the kind that only Chiang Mai’s natural beauty can offer. There’s nothing more memorable than exceptional service, a clean and cozy room, and water activities that make you feel like time is slowing down. For me, it was more than worth it. I won’t say too much, except: Just go. At least once. You have to experience it. If you can choose the time to visit, I highly recommend coming in the cool season. The green forested hills surrounding the water paired with the crisp, refreshing air—it’s a combination that stays with you. Final thought: One of the best nature-based getaways I’ve ever had. Rating: 10/10
This place was awesome. The facilities for water activities were super fun. The food was delicious every time. Drinks are average 150THB for cocktail. Pool table on the main deck is a bit crooked but still fun. Beautiful location. Really attentive and friendly staff members. Would highly recommend. Great communication the whole time via email and WhatsApp too.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
