Chiang Mai Walking Street
Every Sunday evening, Rachadamnoen Road closes to traffic and transforms into one of Chiang Mai's most popular weekly markets, drawing a mix of locals and tourists into a pedestrian-friendly stretch of stalls, food vendors, and live performances. The atmosphere is reliably lively without feeling overwhelming, and visitors frequently note it offers a more relaxed and authentic feel compared to other night markets in the city. Shoppers can browse a wide range of handmade goods including textiles, woodcarvings, ceramics, and jewellery rooted in northern Thai craft traditions, though returning visitors should note that the souvenir selection has remained broadly consistent over the years. The food offering is a genuine highlight, with plentiful street food stalls catering to a variety of tastes, including options suitable for vegetarians. Vendors are generally approachable and willing to talk about their work, adding a personal dimension to browsing. Live performances also appear along the route, making it as much a cultural outing as a shopping trip. Good to know: The market runs on Sundays only, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and hours or operating days can occasionally vary, so it is worth confirming before making a special trip. Parking in the immediate area is extremely limited, so arriving on foot, by bicycle, or via rideshare is strongly recommended. The market is busiest between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM; arriving closer to opening time allows for more comfortable browsing. Bring cash, as smaller vendors typically do not accept card payments.

Visitor Reviews
The Sunday evening Night Market / Walking Street offers a great variety of food and goods. Also live performances can be experienced. The vendors are happy to talk about what they are selling and maybe hand out tips for the recipe if it’s food they are selling. Do not miss this market if in Chiang Mai on a Sunday.
long walking street and small bazaar on weekend. i think only on Sunday. very lively and vibrant vibes. Crowded but joy to walk. Cheaper souvenir and other small stuffs. many good street food options and massage parlour is just corner around. must visit if you are a tourist.
This is a great market! All kinds of goods and food. Not over priced for the most part. Parking is virtually nonexistent so plan accordingly. The days it is open seem to vary so please check in advance. Google maps seems to be accurate in regards to when it is open.

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
