Ko Mak
Nestled in the Gulf of Thailand near Koh Chang, Ko Mak is a small, largely unspoiled island that draws travellers seeking calm beaches, clear water, and a slower pace of life. Its long, quiet stretches of sand are among the most striking in the region, and the island has managed to retain much of its natural character — something visitors clearly value and hope to see preserved. Bungalows and small resorts line the coast, keeping the accommodation scene relaxed and unpretentious rather than overdeveloped. Day visitors can arrive on a half-day tour from Koh Chang that typically includes other nearby islands, while those staying longer can fill their time with snorkelling, scuba diving, and local cooking classes. Food options are well regarded, and the island's residents are noted for their friendliness. Getting around requires either a motorbike or a rental, as the island has no significant public transport, so visitors should factor this into their plans before arriving. Ko Mak suits those genuinely looking to disconnect, but it is worth noting that some accommodation areas can experience noise from bars into the late evening, so choosing lodging carefully — and checking guest reviews before booking — is advisable for those prioritising peace and quiet. Arriving by boat from Trat is the most common route for independent travellers.

Visitor Reviews
10/10 the most amazing place for get away from things in the city and busy beach! The island was amazing, the water is clear and peaceful but you have to know how to ride motorbikes or have to rent the golf carts. I would definitely recommend this island for the people who looking for Get away place
I don’t really want to share my true thoughts about the island here, because I know they might end up all over Instagram one day. But I truly hope it stays unspoiled — protected as it is — and never gets sacrificed for people’s shallow ambitions. My best wishes are with you, dear island. ❤️
One of the most beautiful beaches I've seen in Thailand and I've seen a few. Been there on a half day tour from Koh Chang which included 2 other islands

Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands
Check Monsoon Seasons
The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.
Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy
Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.
Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia
The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
