NONGNOOCH TROPICAL GARDEN

4.7(12,113 reviews)$$$$

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens in Southeast Asia, covering over 500 acres in the Sattahip district south of Pattaya. The grounds are meticulously landscaped and home to an impressive variety of tropical plants, flowers, and trees, drawing comparisons to a well-planned botanical city rather than a conventional garden. Beyond the horticulture, the venue encompasses a French-inspired garden section, a dinosaur valley, a vintage car museum, elephant demonstrations, and traditional Thai cultural performances — making it a genuinely full-day destination rather than a brief stop. Visitors consistently note that the sheer scale catches them off guard, with many recommending far more time than initially planned to do the grounds justice. The atmosphere balances leisurely garden walks with scheduled entertainment, appealing to a broad range of travellers — families, nature enthusiasts, photographers, and those seeking cultural insight alike. Mid-range entry pricing reflects the breadth of what is included on site, and the well-maintained facilities add to the overall experience. Good to know: Plan for a minimum of four to five hours, and potentially a full day if exploring comprehensively. Comfortable walking shoes and sun protection are essential, as distances between attractions are considerable and shade is limited in many areas. Nong Nooch sits outside central Pattaya, so arranging private transport or booking through a hotel tour desk is the most practical approach. Arriving early helps secure good viewing positions for cultural performances, which run on a set schedule throughout the day.

Visitor Reviews

Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden is truly one of the highlights of any Pattaya tour. Spanning over 500 acres, this beautifully maintained botanical garden is a paradise for nature lovers and plant enthusiasts. The property is thoughtfully divided into themed sections, each offering a unique visual and cultural experience. Some of the must-visit gardens include: • Cactus Garden • Garden in the Sky • French Garden • Dinosaur Valley • Italian Garden • Stonehenge Garden Among all, Dinosaur Valley is an absolute showstopper — the life-sized dinosaur installations are impressive and make the experience unforgettable for both adults and children. Beyond the gardens, Nong Nooch also offers two engaging live performances: 1. Thai Cultural Show A vibrant presentation showcasing traditional Thai art forms and cultural performances from different regions of Thailand. 2. Elephant Show An entertaining display of elephants demonstrating their skills — from painting and playing football to giving playful “elephant massages.” At the exit, there is also an auto museum featuring a collection of exotic and classic vehicles, which is a pleasant surprise for automobile enthusiasts. Visitors have the option to include lunch with their ticket. Since the garden covers a vast area, hiring a buggy cart is highly recommended to comfortably explore the entire property. The entry ticket is approximately 600 THB, offering great value for the experience. For those interested, you can also feed the elephants or opt for an elephant safari ride, adding an extra touch of adventure to your visit. Overall, Nong Nooch is a perfect blend of nature, culture, entertainment, and family-friendly activities — a place where you can easily spend half a day immersed in beauty and unique experiences.

It is certainly worth a visit. We should definitely allocate ample time to explore this location, as there is a great deal to see. The French garden, 🐘 show, cultural shows, 🚘 museum, 🦕 valley, and unique 🪴 collections, among other attractions, were truly excellent. Unfortunately, due to limited time, I was unable to fully appreciate everything on offer. A shuttle service is available, but it concludes rather quickly. To fully experience the area, walking is highly recommended, so it would be wise to conserve your energy.

I visited Nongnooch Garden in Pattaya, and I honestly didn’t expect it to be that huge. I knew it was considered one of the largest gardens, but I didn’t realize how massive it truly is until I got there. You actually need golf cars like to see the whole place, and even then, it still feels endless. There’s a lot to explore—elephants, showrooms with cars, exotic plants, and an unbelievable number of dinosaurs. Like, everywhere you turn, there’s another dinosaur. I swear I stopped trying to count after a while. One thing I personally didn’t love was how the elephants seemed to be handled. They offer elephant rides, which I’m not comfortable with, and some of the elephants looked a bit too “disciplined,” if that makes sense. But I understand it’s part of the attraction for many people. Overall, I feel like Nongnooch is perfect for kids, families, and anyone who loves taking Instagram-worthy photos. For me, it felt a bit like everything was put together in one place—fun, but sometimes random and not always cohesive. Still, it’s a unique spot to visit at least once. If you’re in Pattaya, it’s definitely worth seeing, even just for the experience of how huge and varied it is.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
