Thongtakian Resort
Sitting directly alongside Crystal Bay in the Maret area of Koh Samui, this beachfront resort combines a prime coastal location with well-maintained accommodation and attentive hospitality. Guests consistently highlight the spotless condition of the property, the charming atmosphere, and the immediate access to the beach — making it a practical and comfortable base for exploring the island. Rooms are spacious and regularly serviced, with fresh towels provided daily for both beach and shower use. The resort includes a beachside restaurant serving breakfast, and the friendly hosts are noted for going above and beyond, including room upgrades for some guests. Motorbike and scooter rentals are available on-site at around 200 THB per day, giving travellers an easy way to explore the surrounding area independently. Good to know: Thongtakian Resort does not currently list opening hours or booking details online, so prospective guests are advised to contact the property directly to check room availability and confirm current rates. Booking in advance is recommended during Koh Samui's peak season, roughly December through April, when beachfront properties fill up quickly. Those sensitive to dated bathroom fittings should be aware that some rooms retain older bathroom fixtures, though this has not detracted significantly from the overall guest experience.

Visitor Reviews
Stayed here for 4 Nights at their Superior Double room. Rooms were very spacious, just the bathroom is a bit outdated but its fine. Location is beach front , they have a beach restaurant for breakfast and lunch. For dinner there are a couple restaurants down in the main road. Wifi was decently strong connection. Service was excellent. This resort has the Silver beach, a nice little small cove beach, peaceful and nothing like beachclub vibes. Highly recommended if you want somewhere quiet. Away from the hustle and bustle. Highly recommended! Good value
Gracious hosts. A spotless & well-maintained resort, flanked by the magnificent Crystal Bay on either side. The resort also offered a convenient motorbike rental (~200 THB), perfect for a 20-minute ride to Chaweng at night, or just 5 minutes to the vibrant Lamai night-market for some late-night street-snacks.
I enjoyed my stay here, nice rooms, replenished towels everyday for beach and shower use and nice access to beach, scooter rental and hot showers. Rooms NEED to have shower hooks though ?? I’m surprised there are zero spots to hang towels?

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
