Thong Krut Pier
Thong Krut Pier functions as the main departure point for boat excursions along Koh Samui's quieter southern coast, connecting travellers to Koh Tan, Pig Island, and a handful of smaller islands scattered across the Gulf of Thailand. The pier itself is functional rather than scenic, but its value lies entirely in what it provides access to — particularly Pig Island, which receives consistent praise from visitors as a standout stop on multi-island itineraries. Small boat operators work directly from the pier, offering both group tours and private charters. A three-island tour including lunch is available, and private boats can be arranged for around 2,000 baht — notably cheaper than equivalent trips booked through hotels or online platforms. Snorkelling is a common activity on these excursions, though conditions at specific stops can vary. The surrounding area carries a low-key, local atmosphere that sits at some remove from Koh Samui's busier resort stretches, and a quiet beach nearby is better suited to relaxing than swimming. Good to know: Arriving by 9.30am gives the best chance of securing a spot on the first boat out, which typically departs around 10am. Operators on-site are unlikely to accept card payments, so bringing cash is essential. Sun protection is strongly recommended for any time spent on the water, and it is worth checking sea conditions before heading out, as weather can affect departures.

Visitor Reviews
Great for tours. Just go the small pier and book directly your tour at the small club there. It's much cheaper than tourist office or online and you get your private boat. We paid 2000 baht to the pig island on our own boat.
3 island tour with lunch, Including pig island, great trip, snorkeling stop wasn't the best but didn't spoil a great day. Just turned up 930am paid then got on first boat out at 10am
Boats to islands are brilliant, restaurants are very good. Pig island id an absolute must, Take local fishing boats from here to islands. 👌

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
