Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden
Tucked within the famous "Green Lung of Bangkok" on the Bang Krachao peninsula, Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden offers a rare escape from the city's heat and noise. The park features paved walking and cycling paths that wind through dense tropical greenery, a large fish-filled pond, and a bird viewing platform — all set within a landscape that feels worlds away from the urban sprawl just across the river. Visitors can expect a calm, unhurried atmosphere popular with local joggers, cyclists, and birdwatchers. The narrow alleys that thread through the surrounding community add to the charm, giving the area a lived-in, authentic character that sets it apart from more manicured city parks. Feeding the large fish in the main pond is a highlight for many, and the bird life throughout the grounds rewards those who arrive early and move quietly. The park is open every day from 05:00 to 19:00, making it well suited to early morning visits when temperatures are cooler and wildlife is most active. Getting here typically involves a short public ferry crossing the Chao Phraya River, followed by a bicycle hire or walk from the pier — part of the appeal for travellers who enjoy low-key, exploratory outings. Grab is also an option for those coming directly from central Bangkok. Bringing water and wearing light, comfortable clothing is advisable, particularly in warmer months.

Visitor Reviews
The park is an amazing green oasis where you'd never realize you were still in Bangkok. It was a nice half day trip to take a break from the big city. The bird watching was amazing! TIPS: Due to traffic, I highly suggest taking a car to the ferry and taking the ferry the rest of the way. From there, you can rent a bicycle and it is a short bike ride to the park. This will save you a LOT of time compared to driving straight to the park. The quality of the bikes at the other end of the ferry are significantly better than the ones you can rent at the park. The ferry bikes have more options and way better tires so you can go off the paved path. Finally, bring bug spray :)
Very nice green park close to the centre of Bangkok. I took a Grab from Sukhumvit very early in the morning and arrived at the park around 7:00 a.m. I walked around, spotted some lovely birds, and met friendly people. There are toilets and a nice café that serves good coffee. To get back, we walked to one of the ferries and found another Grab on the other side. You can also reach the MRT within walking distance from the ferry point.
We ended up here randomly after deciding to take a short public ferry across the river to discover what was on the other side. It's a nice, quiet place, not very big, and there aren't any impressive flowers or anything that we could see, but still, the walkway across the water was pretty and we enjoyed a respite from the crowds. We also saw a Komodo dragon swimming in the water, which was pretty cool.😎

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
