Arun Thai Cooking
Tucked into the historic Khwaeng Wat Arun neighbourhood on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, this cooking school offers a structured yet unhurried introduction to Thai cuisine. Classes are led by knowledgeable instructors — including the frequently praised Kroo June — who guide participants through both ingredient selection at a local market and hands-on preparation of traditional dishes in a working kitchen. The combination of market visit and cooking session gives the experience genuine depth, connecting the food to its cultural and culinary context rather than treating it as a simple tourist activity. The atmosphere is relaxed and interactive, with small group sizes that allow instructors to tailor the experience to individual needs, including accommodating vegetarian requests. Participants cook and eat everything they prepare during the session, covering a range of classic Thai dishes and regional specialties. The surrounding neighbourhood, near the iconic Temple of Dawn, provides an authentic local setting well removed from Bangkok's busier tourist corridors. Good to know: Classes run daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, seven days a week, making scheduling straightforward for most itineraries. Booking in advance through arunthaicooking.com is strongly recommended to secure a spot and confirm session times. Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for kitchen work are advisable, and arriving a little early allows time to explore the riverside area before the class begins.

⭐ 5/5 – Such an Amazing Experience! We had so much fun at Arun Thai Cooking School! The whole team was super friendly, patient, and made the class enjoyable from start to finish. They even took us to a local market nearby, which was such a cool way to learn about fresh Thai ingredients. The class itself was hands-on, easy to follow, and honestly we went home so full of the most delicious, authentic Thai dishes we cooked ourselves! 😄 Everything tasted amazing and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, and ate even more. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. Perfect activity for friends, couples, or anyone who loves food. We’d definitely come back again! 💛🍜🇹🇭
I had a wonderful cooking class experience today with my friend. Our host, Jun, was incredibly friendly and attentive. Before the class, Jun took us to a local market and shared interesting stories about Thai history and culture. We then learned to cook four delicious dishes: Tom Yum, Pad Thai, Massaman Curry, and Mango Sticky Rice. Everything tasted amazing! Can’t recommend this enough for anyone traveling to Bangkok.
When visiting Bangkok this is a must do….book a cooking class here, it’s the real deal when it comes to appreciating the cuisine of Thailand. It’s a hands on journey into the regions and foods of Thailand and so much fun! Our Tutor Chef Mai is Royal Thai trained and has a step by step method to learn and prepare a variety of signature dishes. 🙏

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
