Tree roots retreat
Tree Roots Retreat is a small, personally run wellness retreat and accommodation nestled in nature in Tambon Taphong, Rayong — a quieter coastal area east of Pattaya. What sets it apart is the hands-on involvement of its hosts, Carol and Dennis, who are consistently praised by guests for their warmth, attentiveness, and ability to arrange tailored wellness experiences including private yoga classes. The retreat has attracted both individual travellers seeking rest and yoga instructors looking for a venue to host group retreats, suggesting a flexible, welcoming setup suited to a range of wellness-focused visitors. Guests describe the atmosphere as cosy, peaceful, and deeply connected to its natural surroundings, with the added convenience of being a short walk from the beach. A library on-site adds a contemplative, unhurried character to the space. The retreat feels deliberately intimate rather than commercial, making it a good fit for those who value personal attention and a genuine sense of calm over polished resort amenities. Good to know: Tree Roots Retreat operates as both a place to stay and a wellness space, so reaching out directly before your visit is strongly recommended to confirm availability, discuss yoga or wellness arrangements, and understand current offerings. As no website is listed, contacting the retreat through available booking platforms or Google is the most reliable approach. The location in Rayong rather than central Pattaya means personal or arranged transport is advisable, and combining a stay here with time on Rayong's less-crowded beaches makes for a well-rounded eastern Thailand trip.

Visitor Reviews
A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of running a yoga retreat at Tree Roots Retreat, and it was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. From the moment I first got in touch with the owner about availability until the moment we left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, everything was smooth and enjoyable. The retreat space has so much to offer, a cosy swimming pool, a relaxing sauna, and an impressive library (book lovers will be amazed by the collection!). The location is perfect too, just a few steps away from the beach, making it ideal for peaceful walks and reflection. All the participants were extremely satisfied with the comfortable room standards and the delicious food provided throughout our stay. Carol and her husband Dennis took great care of us, ensuring everything ran beautifully, and Aaron, the owner, showed such kindness and a great sense of humor that made us feel truly welcome. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-organised retreat venue surrounded by nature and good energy. 🫶☺️✨
I always feel warm and at home whenever I stay at Tree Roots Retreat. The place has such a cozy and peaceful vibe and it is surrounded by nature yet just a short walk from the beach. The staff are genuinely kind, calm, and pleasant which makes the whole experience even more relaxing (thanks Carol, Dennis and Aaron!) The retreat is generally quiet, though you might occasionally hear music from the nearby beach at night. Nothing too disturbing, just part of the local atmosphere. The lush greenery adds to the charm, but make sure to bring mosquito repellent since it’s surrounded by trees and plants. Overall, it’s a lovely place to unwind, reconnect, and slow down. I’ll definitely come back again. =)
Carol and Dennis who are managing the place were the highlight of our stay. We stayed only three nights, but would have loved to have stayed longer. Carol helped us arrange private yoga classes and get us a bike to explore the are. Carol and Dennis really did anything and everything they could to make sure we have a wonderful stay! Location is great and in walking distance from the beachfront. Rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is fresh with good variety and you can use the kitchen to make anything you need to make you comfortable. Lots of options (and fancy machines) to make coffee through the day!
Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
