House of Lucie Samui / หอศิลป์สมุย / Samui Art Center
Tucked along Proo Na Mueang Road in the Maret district of Koh Samui, House of Lucie Samui is a contemporary art gallery and cultural space that stands apart from the island's more typical tourist offerings. Set beside a tranquil lotus lake, the two-storey venue hosts rotating exhibitions featuring both established Thai masters and internationally recognised artists. Past exhibitions have included photography works by renowned names such as Steve McCurry and James Nachtwey, making it a genuinely compelling stop for art and photography enthusiasts. The atmosphere is notably peaceful, with visitors consistently remarking on the calm, creative energy throughout the space. Both floors are dedicated to exhibition space, and the programming spans fine art, craftwork, and documentary photography. Staff are attentive and knowledgeable, often guiding visitors through the current exhibitions personally. As a cultural landmark and educational space, it offers a thoughtful contrast to the beaches and resorts that dominate the island's identity. As opening hours are not publicly listed, it is worth contacting the venue in advance or checking locally before making a dedicated trip. Given its location slightly inland from the main tourist areas, visitors travelling by scooter or private transport will find it easiest to reach. The gallery is well suited to those looking for a quieter, more reflective experience during their time on Koh Samui.

House of Lucie Samui has two floors with 3 artists’ works are being exhibited. Especially Steve Mccurry and James Nachtwey’s photography works are worth to visit to experience.
I happened to pass by here and am very glad I visited this place. The staff member was super nice and showed me everything. A great art project. Thank you.
Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
