The Nine Army Battle Historical Park
Established by the Royal Thai Army on May 3, 1999, this historical park commemorates the Nine Armies War — the Burmese-Siamese conflicts of 1785–1786 that swept through Siam as far south as Phuket, and are connected to the famous legend of the Phuket Heroines. The park honours the Thai national heroes and heroines who defended the kingdom, making it a site of genuine cultural and patriotic significance rather than a conventional tourist attraction. For visitors with an interest in Southeast Asian military history, it offers rare insight into a lesser-known but pivotal chapter of Thailand's past. The grounds are populated with statues saluting key figures from the conflict, and the open-air setting allows visitors to survey the landscape and imagine the scale of the historical events that took place in the region. An onsite museum is present, though fitting-out work has been ongoing, so exhibits may not yet be fully operational. The atmosphere is quiet and contemplative — visitor numbers tend to be low, which suits those seeking an unhurried, reflective experience. Good to know: The park opens at 8:00 AM on weekends, two hours earlier than on weekdays, making Saturday or Sunday the better choice for a relaxed visit with more time to explore the outdoor areas. The site sits along the route toward Erawan Waterfall, so it pairs naturally with that excursion. Comfortable walking shoes are advisable for navigating the grounds between monuments.

Visitor Reviews
A hidden gem definitely worth the visit. This historic park is to commemorate the Burmese - Siamese wars 1785- 1786 that extended all the way south past Phuket. The Phuket Heroines legend is related to these wars. The place itself has beautiful views, statues and little temples in a well taken care of park.
Fascinating history, and a great location to imagine the nine armies battle, that saved Siam.
Museum still being fitted out and not open yet

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
