Golden Buddha
Perched on Khao Takiab — commonly known as Monkey Mountain — this Buddhist temple and golden Buddha statue draws visitors as much for its panoramic coastal views as for its religious significance. The site sits above Hua Hin's southern shoreline and can be reached either from the beach below or from the hilltop, both routes involving a climb of notably steep steps. The surrounding area has developed considerably, with bars and restaurants now operating nearby at Takiab beach. The atmosphere is generally quiet and peaceful, though visitors are never quite alone — the grounds are home to a large population of free-roaming monkeys. The ocean views from the upper levels are a genuine highlight, particularly around sunset. The surroundings are reported to be inconsistently maintained, so expectations should be set accordingly. Photography of the golden statue and coastline is a popular draw. Good to know: The site appears to be accessible throughout the day, making it a flexible stop. Dress respectfully by covering shoulders and knees when approaching the temple area. Regarding the monkeys, visitors strongly advise against feeding them, removing glasses before ascending, and keeping phones and small valuables stored away, as opportunistic theft by the animals is a known occurrence. There are no rubbish bins on site, so take any litter with you. The location pairs naturally with a walk along Hua Hin beach or a meal at one of the Takiab seafront restaurants nearby.

Visitor Reviews
Very nice and clean place, lot of stairs to go up the temple, great shoreview, beware of Theft from hundreds of monkeys around, don't feed them, there are no thrash bins, so don't litter. Apart from sounds of the sea, the monkeys taking care of loud Arguments and quarrels noises, souvenirs are not too expensive from downtown city market, good foot massage in town is recommend after the visit.

Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
