Mon Jam
Perched high in the mountains of Mae Rim District, about an hour's drive from Chiang Mai city, Mon Jam is a highland farming community that draws visitors for its sweeping panoramic views, colourful gardens, and refreshing mountain atmosphere. The winding drive up through forested hills is itself part of the experience, with scenic viewpoints appearing at nearly every bend in the road. Once at the top, visitors can explore flower gardens, browse a local market, and stop for meals prepared on-site. The community operates as a working farm, so the landscape shifts with the seasons — flowers and cool mists are common draws. It is worth noting that individual gardens and certain attractions within the area charge separate entrance fees, so costs can accumulate depending on how much ground visitors cover. Parking is available at a lower car park, from which visitors walk up a steep hill to reach the main area. Mon Jam is open daily from 07:00 to 20:00, making it suitable for both morning visits, when mist still clings to the hills, and late afternoon trips to catch the views in softer light. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended given the uphill terrain. Visitors travelling by private car or motorbike will find the journey most straightforward, as public transport options to this area are limited. Updates and seasonal information are posted on the official Facebook page.

Visitor Reviews
Mon Jam is absolutely breathtaking! One of the most beautiful places to visit near Chiang Mai. The views are stunning from both sides, and every turn offers a new scenic perspective. The drive up to the top itself is an amazing experience — the road is beautiful and riding through the hills makes it even more special. There’s a small café at the top with a very unique and peaceful vibe. Sitting there with a cup of coffee while enjoying the panoramic mountain views is simply unforgettable. The weather, greenery, and calm atmosphere make it a perfect spot to relax, take photos, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended for nature lovers, bikers, and anyone visiting Chiang Mai. A must-visit place!
I randomly saw that place on maps, so i decided to go there the next day, and it was definitely worth it! You need to drive from cnx like an hour, since its in the mountains and surrounded by forests, its cooler up there. There are very nice cafes on top and you can also go into these photo areas for around 50 baht. They definitely made a business out of that but fair play!
It’s really beautiful up here. You park in the carpark down below and then walk up. The walk is a very long steep hill. No entry cost per se but you pay to get into one garden and for the hand in the sky. So much to see and do you could spend hours there. Great stalls on the walk up and down as well.

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
