Gallery Drip Coffee Chiang Mai

4.8(424 reviews)

Nestled within a cultural centre on Chiang Mai's historically significant Prapokklao Road, Gallery Drip Coffee is a specialty café that draws visitors seeking a quieter, more contemplative break from the city's busier attractions. The setting combines a gallery-like atmosphere with a garden seating area, making it a natural stop for those already exploring the temples and heritage sites of the Si Phum neighbourhood. The coffee programme is the clear highlight here. Visitors consistently single out the drip coffee and the affogato — made with coconut ice cream — as standout offerings, with the café drawing praise for both its bean selection and the quality of preparation. The atmosphere is calm and unhurried, with outdoor garden seating that encourages long stays. Staff are noted for being attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall experience. Good to know: Gallery Drip Coffee opens Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so it is worth checking the day before building it into an itinerary. The café sits within the Chiang Mai cultural centre complex, so arriving after a gallery or museum visit makes for a natural and rewarding combination. Earlier in the day tends to offer a quieter atmosphere for those who want to linger over their coffee without the midday crowd.

Cafe culture is in its infancy in Thailand. However, this place demonstrates that the Thais are getting there. After touring, the Gallery, you exit by the cafe and as soon as I entered, I knew this place wasn't going to disappoint. I could see that the barista who was preparing to make drip coffee learned his technique properly when he carefully trimmed and foldted the filter to its proper size. I asked to see the beans and was told that the beans were locally sourced and washed and roasted by the Cafe. While I asked for robust beans, the Cafe owner said that she didn't have robust but favored medium roast and that I should try it. I did, and while the medium roast was flavorful and you could taste the hint of hazelnut, I still would have preferred a more robust bean. Overall, this place is for serious coffee afficionados. I think that if the Cafe wants to please more serious coffee drinkers, it must add a robust bean selection. I was happy and pleased that I found this place and I recommend that if you are in Chiang Mai and want to learn about the City and afterwards be rewarded with a good cup of coffee, stop by!

Nice coffee shop in a nice building/museum. They had lots of beans to choose, we picked affogato & cold brew. To be honest, that's best affogato i tried in my life, seriously. It had coconut ice cream with coffee, and something fun on top (i guess it's made from sugarcane or something like that). Perfect in a hot summer day. Very calm & chill atmosphere that we still remember till now.

I‘ve been here for the second time. I can tell you that the coffee tastes very good. The price is also good. It is a shop that hidden in the Chiang mai culture centre. Good coffee and it’s worth to try even if you aren’t drinking coffee. There are many types of beans to choose. The staff can recommend each menu well. Both talkative, smiling, many seats, both inside and outside.

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture

Dress Modestly

Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.

Mind Your Feet

Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.

Ask Before Photographing

Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
