Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand
Established under the patronage of Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit, this large cultural complex in Bang Srai district serves as both an exhibition space and retail centre for traditional Thai handicrafts, art, clothing, and accessories. The institute is dedicated to preserving and promoting sustainable artisan traditions, with a focus on the exceptional craftsmanship that has defined Thai artistic heritage for generations. Goods on display also include items from the Royal Art and Craft Centre, known for their quality and cultural significance. Visitors can expect a calm, unhurried atmosphere spread across a spacious complex divided into distinct sections, each offering different settings and craft categories. Despite an understated exterior that can initially suggest little is inside, the centre reveals considerable depth on exploration. Stores are well-presented and modern, with prices generally considered reasonable. An in-house exhibition featuring photography and artefacts related to the late Thai kings adds a historical and personal dimension to the visit. Good to know: The centre is located in Bang Srai, roughly 30 to 40 minutes from central Ayutthaya, so independent transport or a dedicated day trip is recommended. Opening hours are not publicly listed, so contacting the institute in advance or checking locally before visiting is advisable. Some visitors have noted limited food options on site, so arriving fed or bringing provisions is worth considering. Dress modestly as a mark of respect for the royal cultural heritage the centre represents.

Visitor Reviews
Tremendous place, not crowded and can often give you the impression that there is not much to see inside but, this is a fantastic place and showcases the outstanding talent of Thai artisans. Suggest that you call the place and check to see whether it is open at the time and on the day that you want to visit. A lot more to see than just what is shown in the images that I have posted here. Check out with the staff, there is a way to enter the back area where you could actually see craftsmen and women, making some of these amazing items. You could visit this place and then move on to the famous temples and temple ruins at Ayuthaya.
A huge center where Thai artisan exhibit and sell their traditional handicraft, art, clothing, and accessories. The stores are neat, modern, and well put together. Prices are reasonable. The surprise to me was how empty the place was around 2 pm on normal working day. The location between Ayutthaya and Bangkok, and not being very close to either may have played a role. It is worth a stop if interested in Thai artisan products.
Good place to enjoy Thai craftsmanship initiated by Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit or to learn about our late kings through pictures at the in-house exhibition.

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
