Rimnam Bangsai
Rimnam Bangsai occupies one of the more atmospheric dining settings in the Ayutthaya region, positioned where the Noi River meets the Chao Phraya. The combination of river breezes, open water views, and central Thai cooking draws a loyal crowd of both locals and food-focused travellers willing to make the journey out from the main heritage sites. The restaurant's quieter, more local character sets it apart from dining options closer to central Ayutthaya. The kitchen specialises in central Thai-style seafood, with grilled giant river prawns consistently praised by visitors as the standout dish. Salt-fried preparations are also available for those who prefer it. Beyond the prawns, the menu extends to fish cakes, soups, salads, and a broad range of traditional Thai dishes, making it a practical choice for mixed groups with varying preferences. Mid-range pricing keeps the experience accessible without sacrificing quality, and the restaurant handles large groups well. Getting here requires over an hour by car from Bangkok, so advance planning pays off. Reservations are strongly recommended, particularly for larger parties, as the restaurant draws a steady crowd. Combining the visit with exploration of the surrounding Bang Srai area — nearby temples and riverside scenery are within reach — helps justify the travel time and makes for a fuller day out of the city.

Visitor Reviews
Worth the visit if you can be bothered to take the 1hr+ car ride from Bangkok to Ayutthaya! The food was of high quality, and the restaurant was very accommodating to our large group. We made a booking beforehand given our group size, and I would highly recommend doing so if you plan on having lunch/dinner given how busy the place was by the time we left (our booking was from 1030). River prawns are a must order, but don't get too hung up on going for the largest sizes as we found the "smaller" ones to have almost the same amount of meat whilst getting more prawns for the price. Everything else on the menu was delicious too, and they also service alcohol on site.
Riverside Dining Where Two Currents Meet Set at the scenic junction where the Noi River meets the Chao Phraya, this riverside restaurant offers a serene and breezy atmosphere — especially beautiful in the early evening. The menu features a wide selection of Central Thai cuisine, with flavors that are mellow, well-balanced, and not overly spicy — perfect for all palates. Freshwater fish and river prawns are highlights here, prepared in various delicious styles. It’s an ideal place for family gatherings or dining with friends, allowing everyone to share and savor a variety of traditional Thai dishes in a peaceful riverside setting.
Great view beside the river Great foods at acceptable price Fish cake was excellent

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
