Nightmarket
Tucked along Bang Ian Road in Ayutthaya's Phra Nakhon Si district, this neighbourhood night market draws locals and travellers alike with its relaxed atmosphere and range of freshly prepared Thai street food. Though modest in size, the market delivers on variety, with vendors offering everything from grilled meats to traditional snacks like coconut pudding. A standout for many returning visitors is the Pad Thai stall, long regarded as a local favourite and now operating from the opposite side of the street. The atmosphere is informal and friendly, with the kind of unhurried energy that suits an evening wander after a day of sightseeing among Ayutthaya's famous temples. Shoppers and diners browse side by side, and the market retains an authentically local feel rather than a tourist-facing one. Note that seating is limited — tables and chairs are generally only available when purchasing from vendors who provide them, so visitors planning to eat may want to be selective about where they buy. The market operates every day of the week from 16:00 to 21:00, making it a reliable evening option throughout the week. Arriving closer to opening time is advisable, as some vendors begin packing up well before the official closing hour. Those arriving after 18:00 may find fewer stalls still trading.

Visitor Reviews
Not huge, but still rich and with delictious food. If you like this kind of amosphere, definitely pay a visit and try grilled meat and coconut pudding sold by an old Thai lady.
Great market for dinner. Used to live here years ago and the Pad Thai at this place (now on the other side of the street) is the best I have had anywhere in Thailand.
Got there later than we should have. Many shops were closing at 6pm.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
