Siam Bay

4.6(870 reviews)

Tucked into the southern reaches of Phuket near Rawai, Siam Bay draws visitors looking for clear, calm water and a noticeably quieter atmosphere than the island's more commercialised shores. The bay's sheltered position makes it well suited to swimming and snorkelling, and visitor accounts consistently highlight the cleanliness and transparency of the water. Views stretch out across the Andaman Sea toward nearby islands, giving the spot a sense of openness that adds to its appeal. The atmosphere here leans toward the peaceful and unhurried. Visitors report few crowds, particularly in the early hours of the day, and the bay tends to attract a mix of travellers arriving by tour and those exploring independently. Snorkelling is a popular activity, with fish visible near the water's surface, and the surrounding Rawai area provides access to beachfront dining and accommodation at various price points. The journey from Chalong is straightforward and part of the appeal for those combining it with nearby sights. Good to know: The bay is best experienced early in the day, when tides are more favourable and larger tour boats have yet to arrive. The prime visiting window runs from November through April, when seas are calm and weather conditions are most reliable. During peak season from December to February, early morning visits on weekdays help avoid the busiest periods. Sun protection is essential, and travellers booking through organised tours should confirm departure timing to make the most of the quieter morning conditions.

Visitor Reviews

A lovely journey from Chalong to here. It is best done early because of the tides and also because getting to the island early means there are very few if the bigger motor-powered tourist boats there, leaving the bay completely free to snorkel in. There is some great fishing, incidentally, along the route — with a lot of dorado in the waters at this time of year. There’s also a great hotel close by for a weekend stay (or longer, of course) — the Racha.

Ok, this spot was recommended by our tour guide. Im glad he made the decision. This place felt like paradise. In today's time, its hard to find a spot thats this beautiful and no crowds. After posting this im sure things might change but I felt like I would do this place justice if I didnt say how amazing it was.

The most beautiful beach we found near Phuket. The water is clean n clear. Beautiful serene place to enjoy your weekend. You can even do snorkeling here. You must visit this beach. Only thing you don't get anything here so please carry you food water and all essential items with you.

Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands

Check Monsoon Seasons

The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.

Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy

Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.

Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia

The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
