Patok Beach
Tucked away in the Rawai area of southern Phuket, Patok Beach is a natural coastal retreat that stands apart from the island's busier shorelines. The beach features soft white sand, turquoise water, and a relaxed atmosphere that appeals to travellers seeking a quieter alternative. Designated swimming areas keep the water safe and organised, and the clarity of the sea makes it well suited for snorkelling. A cliff-side viewpoint is within walking distance, offering a scenic spot for photographs along the coastline. Access to the beach has a slightly adventurous element — larger boats cannot reach the shore directly, so visitors arriving by sea transfer to a small inflatable boat or canoe for the final stretch. Dining options on site are limited to a single beachside venue, though the setting more than compensates, with views of the Andaman Sea that make both breakfast and sunset dinners memorable occasions. The Racha Hotel is located nearby, and its guests are among those who frequent the beach. Good to know: Patok Beach is best visited during the dry season, which runs from November to April, when skies are clearer and sea conditions are calmer. The beach is accessible by road and taxi from central Phuket, and arriving earlier in the day is advisable during peak tourist periods to secure parking. Bring sun protection, and if snorkelling is on the agenda, consider bringing your own equipment as on-site facilities are minimal.

Visitor Reviews
Wow! I recently visited Patok Beach in Rawai, Phuket, and it was an absolute gem! The serene atmosphere, soft sand, and stunning views made it a perfect escape from the usual tourist hustle. The water was crystal clear, ideal for a relaxing dip, and the surrounding area had a laid-back vibe with friendly locals. It’s not overcrowded so far, which is a huge plus, and the sunset was breathtaking. Easily a 5-star experience—I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful beach day in Phuket!
Beautiful beach with soft, white sand and crystal clear water! Less crowded than usual, even though it's located in front of the resort. If you're able to take on the boat ride to get here it's well worth the trip, about a 20 min speedboat trip.
Sunny perfect beach spot with demarked areas for swimming. Clean waters and not overcrowded thankfully. There's a photo point ahead as well that you can walk to for a nice cliff side shot.
Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands
Check Monsoon Seasons
The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.
Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy
Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.
Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia
The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
