Coral Island

4.3(3,208 reviews)

Situated a short longtail boat ride from Rawai Beach on the southern tip of Phuket, Coral Island — also known as Koh Hae — draws visitors with its turquoise waters, soft white sand, and a lively lineup of motorised water sports. Snorkelling is accessible directly from the shoreline across much of the island, and options such as parasailing, kayaking, and scuba diving keep the beach buzzing throughout the day. The atmosphere is energetic rather than secluded, and travellers seeking a quieter experience may prefer nearby Racha Island, where snorkelling conditions are generally considered superior. It is worth noting that Coral Island is a popular stop on group day-trip itineraries out of Phuket, meaning the beach can become noticeably crowded during peak hours, particularly around lunchtime when tour groups arrive simultaneously. Those who prefer a more relaxed visit may benefit from arriving early in the morning. For independent travellers, longtail boats depart regularly from opposite the Poached Breakfast Cafe on Rawai Beach, with several operators available to negotiate. Haggling is standard practice, so shopping around before settling on a price is advisable. The island is open year-round, though the calmer seas of the dry season — roughly November through April — make for the most comfortable visit and the clearest water conditions for snorkelling and diving.

Awesome quiet island with a mild music played sometimes. The beach is pristine. There's water activites around like paragliding, kayaking, and snorkeling(although Racha island snorkeling is better).

Got a longtail from opposite Poached Breakfast Cafe Rawai. There were around 6 different operators; walked along asking for 1,500 baht return for my wife and myself - they wouldn’t entertain it!! Managed 1,800 return from the lady near the middle of the pack - and tipped the captain 100 baht each way for the 30-min journey. Wonderful white sand on the island. 150 for plush sun lounger on the right hand beach. Waiter service for drinks. Amazing way to spend a day relaxing. Got busy around 2pm until 4pm with arrivals of Russian groups. Must-do trip. Perhaps split the journey cost with another couple?? On the return trip, as the tide was so low, the boat moored up around 100m from the shore and we had to get out and walk/wade through shallow water back - make sure you have suitable sandals / water shoes for this!!!

My visit to Coral Island in Pattaya was a memorable experience filled with natural beauty and fun activities. The island is known for its clear blue water, soft white sand, and peaceful atmosphere, which makes it a perfect escape from the busy city. The boat ride to the island was smooth and offered beautiful views of the ocean. As soon as we arrived, the environment felt refreshing and calm. There are many activities to enjoy, such as parasailing, banana boat rides, jet skiing, and snorkeling. Parasailing was especially exciting because of the stunning aerial view of the sea. The water was clean, and the beach was well-maintained. There are also several small restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood and drinks while relaxing under the shade. The staff and guides were friendly and helpful throughout the trip. They explained safety rules clearly and made the activities comfortable even for beginners. The only downside is that the island can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but the experience is still enjoyable. Overall, Coral Island is a great destination for anyone visiting Pattaya. Whether you want adventure or relaxation, the island offers a perfect mix of both. I would definitely recommend it.

Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands

Check Monsoon Seasons

The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.

Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy

Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.

Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia

The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
