Banana Beach

4.6(3,607 reviews)

Banana Beach is a small, secluded stretch of coastline on the northwest side of Phuket, sheltered by dense jungle that gives it a naturally private atmosphere unusual for the island. The surrounding greenery provides plenty of natural shade along the shoreline, and the absence of jet skis and heavy boat traffic keeps the water calm and clear — well suited for swimming and snorkelling, with visitors noting a healthy fish population beneath the surface. The beach has a relaxed, low-key character with a handful of vendors and beach chair rentals available on-site. Organised day-trip packages are offered that include transfers and snorkelling equipment, making it an accessible option for those who prefer a guided experience. The scale is deliberately small, which contributes to the quieter vibe that draws visitors seeking a break from Phuket's busier beaches. It is worth noting that the beach has seen increased visitor numbers in recent years, and some regulars feel it has lost a degree of its original seclusion as a result. Those planning a visit should come prepared with an understanding of the local costs — parking, beach chairs, and drinks are all charged separately. Arriving earlier in the day on weekdays gives the best chance of experiencing the beach closer to its quieter, more natural character.

Hidden gem in phuket 🏝️, white sand & crystal clear water. Not too crowded and there's so many activities to do. Our program includes hotel pick up&drop off and round trip transfer boat, snorkeling and kayaking for only 2000 baht per person. 15 mins by speedboat from Ao chalong, I usually get seasick but was fine with this trip .Worth visiting🫶🏻🫶🏻

One of the best beaches i have been too. The vibe is just right, smal with a jungle behind making it feel privat. Alot of natural shadow and quiet. Little to no boats/jetski. Beautiful water and white fine sand. Its free but the parking costs, 50 bath for motorbikes and 100 bath for cars.

It's a beautiful beach. If you plan to visit, you should know beforehand how much parking costs, how much drinks cost, and how much beach chairs cost.

Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands

Check Monsoon Seasons

The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.

Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy

Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.

Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia

The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
