TIME FOR LIME - Thai Cooking School and Cocktail fun

4.9(503 reviews)$$$$

Time for Lime is a cooking school and cocktail experience on Ko Lanta that stands out for combining culinary education with a genuine social cause. Classes are run by enthusiastic instructors who guide guests through traditional Thai cooking techniques and cocktail-making, and the venue also operates an animal shelter on the premises — a portion of proceeds supports the rescue dogs that visitors get to meet as part of the experience. A typical session begins with a cocktail-making class, where guests learn to mix Thai-inspired drinks alongside getting an introduction to local culture. The cooking class that follows is hands-on throughout, with instructors known for being both knowledgeable and entertaining. Guests prepare and then eat the dishes they make, which adds a satisfying and practical dimension to the whole experience. The upscale pricing reflects the quality of ingredients, the calibre of instruction, and the charitable component built into the visit. Good to know: Ko Lanta is accessible by ferry from Krabi town, so factor in travel time when planning your schedule. Booking in advance is strongly recommended, particularly during the peak tourist season between November and April. Wear comfortable, casual clothing suitable for working in a kitchen, and arrive hungry — leaving without a full stomach is unlikely.

Visitor Reviews

An amazing experience at Time for Lime and truly our favourite experience we’ve had in Thailand! We kicked off with a super cocktail making class with Olivia and met some of the dogs at the shelter. Cocktails were VERY good and Olivia was a fantastic host!! We moved onto the cooking course with Noi who was a superb host, cracking lots of jokes along the way. Noi ensured the steps were easy to follow and supported us all throughout the course. He was funny, engaging and informative on Thai cuisine. The experience wouldn’t be what it was without the kitchen ninjas either who cleaned up so promptly after each section/course. Just brilliant !! I cannot recommend this experience enough!! And all for an excellent cause! Thank you all again!

This was one of the best experiences on our Thailand Holiday (and that is saying a lot). We did the lunch time cooking class which also included a tour of the shelter. The people and Junie are doing such wonderful and important work for the stray animals on this island (and even on the mainland). They are incredibly engaged in helping and healing sick and wounded animals. They operate on donations and volunteer work alone. The cooking class was sooo much fun. Noi made sure everyone had a great time, we learned some cool new skills and yummy recipes and also laughed a lot, what a great teacher he is! A must if you're spending time on Koh Lanta, plus cooking and drinking for a good cause is great!

I don't even like to cook usually and still loved the experience! Our chef teacher didn't only explain everything super well but was also super funny and nice. The food we made was one of the best that I ever had, no doubt, also related to the super high quality ingridients provided You learn how to do different meals and get a thorough explanation document sent to your mail also after the class, so you won't forget anything - they even have advice on what good Thai brands to buy in Europe! One of the best experienced we had in Thailand and even better that it also supports the Animal Welfare of the island. 😊 PS: Also very vegetarian and vegan friendly, they really pay attention to this!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
