Sukho Cuisine Thai Cooking School
Sukho Cuisine Thai Cooking School offers a hands-on introduction to Thai culinary traditions from a relaxed setting on Ko Lanta, one of Krabi's quieter islands. Classes are led by knowledgeable, enthusiastic instructors — including the widely praised Pak, known for keeping sessions lively with humour and genuine passion for food. Participants cook multiple dishes per session, learning to balance the sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavours that define Thai cuisine, and leave with both a full stomach and practical skills to recreate dishes at home. Visitors consistently describe the classes as generous and immersive — portions are plentiful, the atmosphere is warm, and the pacing suits all experience levels from complete beginners upward. The intimate setting allows for personal attention throughout, and the overall experience translates well whether attended solo, as a couple, or in a group. Reviewers frequently note that the food quality alone justifies the session, with many unable to finish everything they prepare. Good to know: Ko Lanta's dry season runs from November to April, making this the most reliable time to visit the island and attend classes. As sessions fill up, booking in advance is strongly recommended to secure a spot. Come hungry — reviewers consistently advise against eating beforehand, as the food prepared during class is substantial enough to serve as a full meal.

Visitor Reviews
This cooking class was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. The instructor was knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about food, creating a warm and inspiring atmosphere throughout the course. The recipes were well-balanced between creativity and practicality, and every step was explained clearly, making it enjoyable for both beginners and more experienced cooks. High-quality ingredients, great organization, and plenty of hands-on practice made the experience both fun and educational. I left the class feeling confident, inspired, and excited to recreate the dishes at home. Highly recommended to anyone who loves cooking or wants to take their culinary skills to the next level. I'm just putting together my photo book and I had to look this place up as I wanted to get the name right. I visited back in August and despite being absolutely exhausted from island tours when I arrived, Pak made sure that my friends and I had the best time. I've never had an overseas cooking class where I actually learned how to make the dish and what could be substituted or not. Pak really brought the energy and the expertise. We were soooo full by the end, luckily I had some friends to give the leftovers to before leaving Thailand. I was so happy to finally have some authentic recipes I can use now I'm back in Australia! Thanks Pak and team :)
I went to this program on Thursday February 26, 2026. This was an amazing experience. Do not eat before going there, as you will have plenty to eat, and even take home. I learned so much about Thai roots, herbs, spices, vegetables, and how to prepare them so that they all went together perfectly. I loved every dish I made, and would love to do another class soon. They have different classes everyday, so it looks like it’s always a new experience. Highly recommend. This is a hands on experience, so be prepared for lessons, then to be cutting, smashing, grinding spices, and cooking multiple meals over hot oil and fire.
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
