Spice and Knives Cooking Class & Organic Garden
Set on the quieter stretch of Klong Kong Beach in Ko Lanta, this cooking school and organic garden offers small-group classes where participants learn to prepare authentic Thai dishes under the guidance of Chef Pon, an experienced and personable instructor praised by visitors for his patience and warmth. Classes are kept intimate by design, typically hosting only a handful of guests at a time, which allows for a genuinely personal and interactive experience rather than a classroom-style lesson. Guests are welcomed on arrival with coffee, tea, and fresh fruit before choosing their dishes from a flexible menu that can accommodate different preferences and dietary requirements. The cooking stations are designed to be shared, making this a particularly enjoyable activity for couples, families, and small groups. The on-site organic garden connects participants directly with the ingredients they use, adding a farm-to-table dimension that goes beyond the cooking itself. Reviewers consistently highlight the quality of the fresh ingredients, the relaxed atmosphere, and the approachability of both Chef Pon and his co-host Karina. Good to know: Opening hours and pricing are not listed publicly online, so it is worth reaching out in advance to confirm class schedules, discuss menu options, and flag any dietary needs. Visitors also note that dish selection is typically confirmed a few hours before the class begins, so arriving with some idea of what you would like to cook is helpful.

Visitor Reviews
We joined the Spice and Knives Thai cooking class in Koh Lanta as a group of two and had a fantastic experience. Including us, there were 7 people in total, which made the class feel friendly and interactive without being crowded. We prepared Pad Thai and Green Curry paste, and we also got to watch the rest of the group make other dishes—which added variety and made the whole session even more interesting. The atmosphere was excellent thanks to Mr. Po (the chef) and his wife, who was always present, friendly, and very helpful throughout the entire class. Their energy made the experience both educational and enjoyable, and the class felt very welcoming from start to finish. We absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend Spice and Knives to anyone who loves Thai food and wants a hands-on, authentic cooking experience in Koh Lanta!
What an amazing experience. We chose this cooking class because the menu was flexible, and we were able to share a cooking station. We were welcomed with coffee, tea, fresh fruit and traditional thai appetizers. We were a group of 6 couples (so 12 people total), most of us making different dishes. It never felt chaotic or stressful. Instructions were clear, easy and it was really fun! Everything was fresh & delicious. Everyone left so full. Chef Pon & his wife Karina are so hospitable. They sat with us, chatted and made everyone feel welcome. Thank you so much!
Amazing cooking class! Spice & Knives was one of the most welcoming and personal experiences we had in Koh Lanta. Chef Pon is an experienced Thai chef. He’s very patient and has a great sense of humor, while his German wife Carina made us feel instantly at home! Almost all the ingredients came straight from their own garden, which made the dishes taste even more special. It was delicious, heartfelt, and genuinely enriching — an experience we’ll remember for a long time. Highly recommended!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
