Phoenix Divers - Koh Lanta Diving, Freediving, Snorkeling
Phoenix Divers operates out of Sala Dan, Koh Lanta's main village and pier area, offering PADI-certified scuba diving courses, freediving instruction, and snorkeling trips across the Andaman Sea. The centre caters to all experience levels, from complete beginners working toward Open Water certification to experienced divers joining guided trips to Krabi's coral reefs and marine ecosystems. Advanced Open Water courses are also available for those looking to progress further. The operation is consistently described by visitors as well-organized and professionally run, with instructors praised for clear briefings, attentive safety standards, and a calm, encouraging teaching style. Small group sizes contribute to a personalized experience, and all equipment is provided. Named instructors appear regularly in visitor accounts, suggesting a stable, experienced team rather than a revolving roster of guides — a detail worth noting for those booking multi-day courses. Good to know: The centre is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00, making it easy to drop in and discuss options before committing to a course or trip. The peak diving season runs from November to April, when the Andaman Sea is at its calmest and underwater visibility is at its best — advance booking during this window is strongly recommended. Prospective visitors should check the website before arrival to review current pricing and available packages, as costs vary depending on certification level and trip type.

Visitor Reviews
Did my Open Water with Seb and my Advanced Open Water with George at Phoenix Divers on Koh Lanta. Honestly, just a really solid experience from start to finish. Both Seb and George are calm, skilled teachers. Clear briefings, no stress, good balance between safety and fun. You feel they know exactly what they’re doing, which makes a big difference, especially during training dives. The boat setup is good, maybe a bit tight for time to time. Big, fast speedboat, so you’re not wasting time getting to the dive sites. We had fantastic visibility and even did a wreck dive, which was a highlight for me. Everything felt well organised without being overly rigid. On board you get fresh fruit and a proper lunch, simple but good. You leave around 8:20 in the morning and you’re back between 15:00 and 15:30, so it’s a full but relaxed day. Standard is two dives, and you always have the option to add a third dive for 1000 baht, which is worth it if you still have air and energy left. Extra credit to Seb and George. Each brings their own approach, and both are excellent instructors. If you’re considering doing your course on Koh Lanta, this is a very safe bet. Photo credit to Seb!
Absolutely phenomenal experience, I would give more than 5 stars if I could! Got my open water certification & did an adventure deep dive on vacation in Thailand and I am SO happy I went with Phoenix. From the start of the booking process, they were SO responsive & made planning so easy. I was able to pay a small down payment with my credit card online and complete all my elearning thru the shop ahead of time so I could fully enjoy my trip. From the staff at the shop to the dive masters and instructors on board, everyone was SO kind, helpful and safety conscious. Special shout out to Jagoda and Lion who made my experience extra special & amazing. I walked away with a new skill, beautiful memories and new friends! We saw SO many beautiful animals including a leopard shark, seahorse, cuddle fish, squid, shrimp, pipefish and soo many more. The price of everything felt super fair and all the snacks and lunch on board were DELICIOUS. I seriously cannot recommend these guys enough!!!!❤️🏝️🙏🏽
Diving with the Phoenix crew was incredibly well-organized and professional. The whole team was so helpful and friendly, and communication was always excellent. Everything was provided for the divers on the boat, from coffee and soft drinks to donuts – nothing was lacking. Lunch was always delicious and varied. The dive sites were also very diverse and interesting. My personal favorites were Hin Muang, Ko Haa, and Ko Bida. A special thank you to Harris, Leon, Georg, Lauren,Steffi and Sally for the tips and tricks. they were very helpful for the future. I can highly recommend Phoenix Divers to anyone. You guys do a fantastic job. Thank you all. See you again next year. Best regards, Thierry Le

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
