Phang Nga Elephant Park
Nestled in the lush surroundings of Phang Nga province, this ethical elephant sanctuary gives visitors the rare opportunity to spend meaningful time with rescued elephants in a setting that prioritises animal welfare above all else. Unlike traditional elephant attractions in Thailand, the park operates as a true sanctuary, where the elephants roam freely and interactions are guided by a philosophy of care and respect. The star of the show is often Choosri, a 59-year-old elephant whose gentle temperament has left a lasting impression on many visitors. Experiences range from a morning dawn session to a comprehensive four-hour programme that includes a guided jungle walk, the chance to feed and bathe the elephants, and a freshly prepared lunch. Knowledgeable guides lead each session, answering questions about elephant behaviour, daily routines, and conservation — making the visit both engaging and educational. The atmosphere is intimate and unhurried, with private tour options available for those seeking a more personal experience. The park is open every day from 08:30 to 17:30, making it easy to fit into a broader Krabi or Phang Nga itinerary. Visitors are advised to book in advance, as sessions fill quickly, particularly during peak season. Wear comfortable clothes that can get wet, as bathing the elephants is a highlight of most programmes. Check the official website at phangngaelephantpark.com for current tour options and pricing.

Visitor Reviews
We googled many different ethical elephant sanctuary’s in Thailand before deciding on this one and we are so glad we did. We wanted to make sure the elephants were treated really well so did not want anything to do with anything like riding on them etc We had an amazing once in a lifetime experience with these beautiful gentle giants, and particularly liked the fact that in the evening they are free to roam the jungle to sleep but choose to return to the park during the day clearly enjoying being fed and bathed etc We also liked the fact there wasn’t a large amount of people that could upset or scare the elephants just a few small groups Joy our guide was not only informative but very engaging and patient she answered all questions about the elephants and the sanctuary and Bob our elephant handler clearly loved his elephant Choosri and was happy to take photos for us. The whole experience was finished off by a nice Thai meal and a drink. We would thoroughly recommend a visit to this elephant park
Wonderful experience, we did the 4hr experience which included lunch which was delicious. Our guide Nadia was excellent, she answered questions flawlessly from care, daily routine and the elephant culture in thailand. We certainly left with a lot more knowledge than when we arrived. Taking a step into the elephant experience in thailand is something which we were extremely careful to do because these animals are not meant for entertainment. Going to this sanctuary was brilliant, we followed the routine and while we did interact to feed them and give them a scrub, that was the elephants routine which we were just able to enjoy. I would highly recommend paying a bit extra and doing the right thing. We came away with a full on experience with the lightest touch and footprint. 5* 100%

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
