SuriyanChandra Restaurant
Combining traditional Thai dining with a scenic river cruise experience, this Ayutthaya establishment offers something beyond a typical restaurant visit. Located in the Bang Ban district, it draws a loyal following that includes locals, food enthusiasts, and travellers seeking an experience rooted in genuine Thai culinary tradition. Several dishes are reportedly drawn from Royal Thai recipes, giving the menu a distinctly elevated character that sets it apart from more conventional dining options in the region. Guests can expect a relaxed, riverside atmosphere with authentic Thai food and desserts receiving particular praise. The experience typically includes a boat cruise along the river, with sunset dinners offering views of the surrounding landscape. While the river scenery has received mixed feedback — some finding it understated — the overall combination of food quality, attentive service, and setting makes for a memorable afternoon or evening out. Thai desserts are a consistent highlight across visitor accounts. Good to know: SuriyanChandra appears to offer a curated dining-and-cruise package rather than casual drop-in service, so advance communication with the restaurant is strongly recommended before visiting. Opening hours and reservation details are not listed publicly online, and arriving without a booking may result in disappointment, particularly for groups or special occasions.

Visitor Reviews
My boyfriend had planned a VIP afternoon cruise at this establishment, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. Everything was perfectly arranged, from the pre-cruise communication to the reception, the cruise itself, and the restaurant. A little tip: come hungry! Upon arrival, we were offered Thai desserts while waiting for the boat. On board, several snacks were also available, and drinks were unlimited (Coke, water, orange juice, wine). The staff was incredibly attentive, respectful, and caring. We had the option to step off the boat to visit temples or simply enjoy sightseeing from the river. After the cruise, we were treated to a restaurant experience with a generous and diverse selection of dishes. The staff even took photos of us to capture the moment. And the highlight of it all… I left with my fiancé, not just my boyfriend, because he proposed to me on the boat! A perfect and idyllic moment, despite the rainy weather. An unforgettable experience that I highly recommend!
We had an awesome experience at SuriyanChandra Restaurant in Ayutthaya, Thailand. This beautiful riverside restaurant serves some authentic and delicious Thai cuisine and desserts. While waiting for the boat ride, we were served an array of Thai snacks and desserts. Then you get to taste more unique Thai food and drinks during the river tour. And the setup for dinner was so beautiful with the nice and relaxed ambiance, the orchids, the chandeliers and lighting, the beautifully presented food all deserved a praise. The staff were friendly and attentive. Amazing service, excellent Michelin starred food, nice atmosphere… we had an amazing time here!
Thai movie stars, hi society individuals and in-the-know tourists love this unique restaurant experience. The food is delicious and must be experienced. Many dishes are from Royal recipes changing your mind about what "real Thai food" is. This is something extraordinary. If you are an expat, with friends and family visiting, take them here. Blow their minds into the environmental realm of Thai elegance. The concept is taking an old rice mill, and turning it into an upscale restaurant located on the river. After dinner or lunch? How about renting their boat for a few hours of a luxury tour on the river. You will be pleased.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
