Tawaen Beach
Tawaen Beach is the largest beach on Ko Lan Island, sitting just off the coast of Pattaya and accessible by a 30-minute speedboat ride or a slower ferry from the mainland. The beach draws visitors with its clear, colourful water, fine sand, and a lively shoreline lined with sun loungers for rent and local restaurants serving food at prices comparable to the mainland. It suits families and casual beachgoers looking for a fuller island experience than Pattaya's urban beaches can offer. The atmosphere is generally relaxed and open, with space for swimming and water activities across a wide stretch of sand. Beachside vendors and modest restaurants handle most visitor needs, though the area can get busy, and some visitors have noted that service quality and crowd levels vary. Noise from watercraft and beach activity is part of the environment, so those seeking total quiet may want to adjust expectations. Good to know: For the return journey, a speedboat is worth considering over the slow ferry, which can take well over an hour. Arriving early helps secure a good spot and avoids the busiest part of the day. The dry season, running roughly from November to February, offers the clearest water conditions. Bring sun protection and any essentials, as facilities, while functional, remain fairly basic.

Visitor Reviews
It is a small island. And a nice beach. We went there by speedboat. A monster with 2x 300hp. Spectacular. It was a day trip just to see how a island like this is. If you like a quiet holiday in a nice resort. It is on the island. We are more travelers so 1 day to look and feel is enough. So we hired a motorcycle and did sightsee the entire island. Walking is not a real option. Too big for waking. An motorcycling in another country is always nice. Finding an ATM is a bit of a thing. So take enough money with you. And have something to keep you and your phone etc dry during the speedboat trip :)
Tawaen Beach is Ko Lan Island's largest beach. It's suitable for people of all ages, offering a great space for swimming, playing, and spending time in the water. This place has a wide selection of restaurants and shops for food and drinks. You can also rent chairs and spend some time on the shore. Several hotels are available for overnight stays as well. Overall, it's definitely worth experiencing. Try to come early to avoid crowds.
Beach is nice and clean, amazing water color, there's a lot of sun beds for rent, local restaurants offer food in normal prices, same as on the main land. The only thing I didn't like was the noise from the boats and jet skis but it's still a nice place to relax.
Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands
Check Monsoon Seasons
The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.
Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy
Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.
Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia
The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
