Takiab Beach
Stretching approximately five kilometres along the coastline south of central Hua Hin, Takiab Beach offers a noticeably quieter alternative to the main Hua Hin beachfront. The wide sandy shore, fine-grained underfoot, is backed by a relaxed local atmosphere where Thai families and independent travellers coexist without the noise or commercialisation of more developed resort beaches. Views of Khao Takiab hill provide a distinctive backdrop, and the presence of traditional fishing boats adds to the beach's authentic character. Visitors can expect calm, generally clear water suitable for swimming, along with a pleasant beachfront walkway that lends itself well to morning and evening strolls. Nearby food stalls and local restaurants serve fresh seafood and Thai dishes, making it easy to spend a leisurely half-day or full day here. The beach connects naturally with other local points of interest, including Wat Khao Takiab temple situated on the hill at the southern end, which is worth a visit for its hilltop views and resident monkeys. Good to know: The dry season between November and February brings the most settled weather and comfortable beach conditions. Outside these months, the Gulf of Thailand coast can see increased rainfall and choppier seas, so conditions vary by season. There is no entrance fee to access the beach. Those planning to visit Wat Khao Takiab should bring a light cover-up, as modest dress is expected at the temple.

Visitor Reviews
From the Hua Hin beach at the 61 Alley to Wat Khao Takiab, the Takiab beach probably measures 5,000-meter long and approximately 30 to 60-meter wide. Fine-grained sands with ponds here and there. A lovely beach. Because we stayed at a guest house not far from the beach, we were able to go to the beach early in the morning, at noontime, in the afternoon and in the evening, to admire the beautiful beach, waves and skyline in changing lights. Truly therapeutic! When hungry, we drove to various restaurants in Hua Hin or just visited the Cicada market. We highly recommend Hua Hin.
A peaceful and authentic beach with a calm local vibe. Wide sandy shore, fresh sea air, and beautiful views of Khao Takiab hill in the distance. Less crowded than the main Hua Hin beaches, which makes it perfect for long walks, quiet moments, and watching the sea without noise or rush. Local fishermen, small cafés nearby, and a very natural feeling — simple, honest, and relaxing. Great place to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel the real rhythm of coastal Thailand. Highly recommended for those who appreciate tranquility, nature, and a more local atmosphere.
Khao Takiab Beach is a beautiful and relaxed beach with a long stretch of sand and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s a great place for a quiet walk, enjoying the sea view, and having a meal at one of the nearby beachfront restaurants. Overall, it’s a lovely spot to spend a calm and enjoyable day by the sea. 🌊☀️
Tips for Visiting Beaches & Islands
Check Monsoon Seasons
The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) has rough seas from May to October. The Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan) is roughest from October to December. Plan your island-hopping around these windows.
Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy
Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Tesco Lotus or Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.
Book Ferries on 12Go.Asia
The 12Go platform lets you compare ferry operators, times, and prices between islands. Book a day or two ahead in high season. Avoid the cheapest operators if reviews mention safety concerns.
