Piya Silapakan Museum of Art Pattaya หอศิลป์ ปิยะศิลปาคาร

4.9(31 reviews)

Tucked along Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya, this intimate art museum and gallery occupies a beautifully designed building that once served as the workshop of a celebrated Thai artist and has since evolved into a hub for a young creative community. The space spans multiple floors, with one dedicated to rotating art exhibitions and a small library, and another housing a cosy café where visitors can linger over a coffee surrounded by original artwork. Artsy merchandise including clothing and handcrafted items is also available for those looking to take something home. Entry to the gallery and library is free, making it an accessible stop for travellers seeking a cultural experience without the typical admission cost. The café operates on a support-the-space model, and visitors are encouraged to purchase a drink to help sustain the community — the caramel coffee comes particularly recommended by regulars. The building itself is a draw, with thoughtful design details both inside and out that reward those who take the time to explore each floor. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 09:30 to 18:00, and is closed on Mondays. Given its relaxed, unhurried atmosphere, it suits a mid-morning or early afternoon visit when there is ample time to browse the exhibitions, browse the library shelves, and settle in at the café. Those travelling with children or looking for a quieter alternative to Pattaya's busier attractions will find it a welcome contrast.

Visitor Reviews

Wonderful place in Pattaya and the only one of its kind. One floor hosts art exhibitions and a mini library (free to enter), and the other one has a cafe and variety of artsy merchandise such as shirts and pottery for sale. The hosts are lovely people, and I even met the artist behind one of the exhibitions. There was no one besides me when I was visiting, I wish this place was more well known, it's definitely worth the visit! 💜

Such a great place to chill have coffee and see som on art. A beautifully designed building I'm and out. Added to my favourites for next time. Free to enter just buy a drink to support the gallery. Please donate and help keep these beautiful gems open. ❤️

Charming art space, studio, gallery and coffee place, for many years workshop of a famous Thai artist, now home to young artists' creative community. Cosy atmosphere, lots of things to do, to see, to learn, to read and to try.

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture

Dress Modestly

Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.

Mind Your Feet

Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.

Ask Before Photographing

Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
